east/west coast oppinions of warrior

Its only going to get worse with Warrior and their marketing. You should see their lacrosse catalog. Stiffi, landing strip, shocker, blade f-off, penitrator, woodrow, ect...Just a sampling of product names. This has sorta been warriors thing for the last five or so years, ever since their lacrosse product became number one in the market.

i thought their original ad campaign was decent (the AK27 is pretty cool), but the nipple grip and now the johnson really has me wondering.

what was warrior's grip called before nipple grip and was it the same thing, just different name?

their marketing doesn't bother me at all. its kind of cheesy but it sure is working. i like warrior sticks. the only thing im not crazy about are the flashy colors and graphics on the sticks but that doesn't really bother me too much.

i'm 29 and in dallas.

Was it the same thing as the nipple grip or did it have a rubber feeling? Also I think I remember something about a polarfibre grip with Inno, but I never learned what it actually was?

it was just your average grip, it was called "soft grip" if i remember correctly

I think that one way to approach this whole Warrior marketing thing is by ignoring it. Not in an attempt to make it go away but just to not let it sway your opinion about the product.

Just like you shouldn't let marketing persuade you into purchasing a particular product, in this case you shouldn't let marketing influence you to avoid the product.

This is just a reverse of the stereotypical criticism of marketing. Judge the products on their performance not their advertisements.

I am extremely happy with my Dolo and my AK 27 and will buy the same sticks when they need replacing. For this reason I could not care less about their style of marketing for their products.

I agree with this totally, and even though I hate the marketing scheme that wouldn't stop me from buying Warrior products, since they're quality. I just think it's so silly that their marketing guy thinks that this will appeal to the youth of our sport, and they're so right. That's what bothers me.

i would be surprised if warrior doesnt read this board/keep track of what is said about its products etc. especially on this board. the only problem is that i think warrior feels that by being outrageous in their advertising, no matter what the direct response of people might be right away, they gain a slight edge in advertising by it being something that people talk about, exactly what we are doing here. they would rather have people talking about their product than easton's or bauer's or whoever's because even if they are saying they hate the name of the stick they are still talking about the stick and thus putting warrior on the map, id say a pretty smart way to go for a company fiarly new to the hockey market, and id also have to say that it worked at least to some extent. id also have to say that i dont think the hockey community will be quite as open to advertising that goes the same distance as the warrior lacrosse advertising, but that remains to be seen. i would love to see them tone down the advertising aspect a little bit, but they certainly do make a quality product (ive had several mac daddy/dolomite ops, and when they broke i moved to dolomite tapered shafts and i just recently bought an ak27 that i love so far as well, minus the graphics). its a shame that they need to taint(?) a quality product with this advertising, but i can also understand why they do...

My son and I both use Warriors. I like the sticks for their quality but think the marketing is juvenile and will be short lived. I am not offended to the point where I would not purchase this stick or allow my son to use the product. In fact,I have seen this type of marketing come and go over the years. Quality speaks for itself and if used by NHL players that's what will sell.

I am sure that if Sidney Crosby were to use and endorse a simple wooden stick it would probably have a greater impact to youth hockey palyers than references to a Johnson. Warrior does not need to continue this type of advertising to sell thier products.

I thought the AK27 marketing was quite effective and original. The newer stuff--nipple grip, Johnson, Kronik, etc.--makes me lean away from the product. It's just juvenile and insults its market, if you ask me. I have the same opinion of Fox TV's NFL broadcasts with the robotic football player graphic that has lasers shooting from its eyes and that jumps around during dead time. I feel queasy watching that stuff. It makes me feel like I'm watching something that is being marketed to 9 year old boys.

While the marketing campaign for Warrior prejudices me against the products, I have bought a Warrior blade, so the negative effect of the ads certainly hasn't made me boycott the company.
