Graf g9 question

Recommended Posts

If I fit into a 1500c and a Flexlite 12 fine (length/width) wise, will the g9 or ultra g70 be perfect for me? Are the g70/g9 a lot deeper than the flexlites? No one around me stocks the Ultra, and I am curious. As you guys know, I need a deeper skate. Thanks

I've used 8090, flexlite, and now the G70 (also Easton 1200-too shallow!). The G70 is slightly deeper (we're talking millimeters here). I am D width in the 8090's and Flexlite, Wide in the G70's. Hope this helps.

My impression was that an 8.5R Graf G9 was slightly narrower throughout than a 8.0D Flexlite. It was, however, not a direct impression, but one separated by several days.

I will have an inexpensive used Flexlite to torture next to some Grafs at my LHS in the next couple of days; I'll let you know.

I concur with Law on the width issue...

Law,

I'm back in the 8090's...put the tongues from my old 652 tacks in them (I'll post a pic soon) G70's seem a bit clunky compared to these (neither have the depth I'm looking for, but those 652 tongues feel mighty good!)

I wear a G9 and it is definitely a much deeper boot than the 1500. I couldn't even lace the 1500 up over my huge foot. Haven't tried the FL12's, but the 10.5 D G9 was way deeper than the 1500 in the same size when I was getting fitted for my new skates.

I can say with absolute assurance that the G70 is lower-volume than the G9. The G70 heel is, however, a good deal narrower - feels like a full size smaller.

cbart--

I've got a really cheap pair of Flexlite 10s coming my way, so I'm giving those a shot. I figure with baking and chiropodist-style torture-strapping, I may be able to make a go of it. I have, however, started setting aside money for custom 709s. I just can't take this any more.

Yes me too.I've begun to set some money aside to pick up a pair of 705's before they are not available any longer. If I wait too long I'll need to go to the G-5 which I don't believe is as durable. Still a lot of dealers who still carry the 705 so I have a little time.

The G70 is just a tiny bit deeper than the Flexlites, in my experience. They are, however, radically different lasts, so the comparison isn't as straightforward as between the G70 and the 709 or even the 8090. The Flexlite is slightly deeper from the heel to the top of the arch; the G70 is slightly deeper from the top of the foot to the bottom -- or so it felt to me. The Flexlite also has much deeper ankles than the G70.
