hudsonhockey22 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 saw this tapered blade, looks nice. just got a 7k profeel shaft. hows this blade? weight? and would it fit snug into the 7k.
odp 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 Blade is ok - pretty thick, but it could just be the PM9 that I have. Mine weighs in at 156g, which is more than any of my composites but less than my TPS R2/R8 wood blades. Don't have an non-ops RBK shaft so I can't comment on the fit. echi24 1 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 how long is the hosel, in the stock photos it almost looks as long as a standard blade. i remember the 7500 blades being the lightest tapered wood blade, is the construction similar?
EBondo 235 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 The hosel is definitely shorter, and if I had to comment on the construction of the 7500 and XXX-Lite, I would say the XXX-Lite is better. I wasn't much of a fan of the 7500 blade I had, but I really like the XXX-Lite blade.
greech 4 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 The xxx-lite blade has great feel coming from the xxx-lite comp; but after a couple skates I can already feel it losing its 'pop.'
odp 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 The hosel is standard length for a tapered blade (definately shorter than Dolomite blades) but the tenon is on the long side. (3", whereas most are 2 5/8")
hudsonhockey22 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 so overall, would you guys get it over a composite one (cuz of the price). and would it fit nicely in the 7k shaft
thejackal 46 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 i would not get any wood blade over a good comp blade for cost reasons, because comp usually lasts 4-5 times longer for me.
echi24 1 Report post Posted November 25, 2007 i would say that it depends on personal preference. a composite tapered blade costs upwards of $70 in toronto, where as woods can be found for $25 on average. composite doesn't last 4-5 times longer for me, and i would say that it comes down to personal preference. which will preform better for you, and in the shaft. take balance, pattern selection, and feel into account.
