Abilectic 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 Who names their kid Jet Lee? Especially if your last name is Swift. He'll probably end up in gay porn after he rebells in his teen years. They did show some game film during the clip and I didn't see a goalie there. Im pretty sure the 38 goal game came long before he learned what a goalie was.
Jim A 4 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 I couldn't even imagine that upbringing, hockey doesn't need more Marinovich or tennis parents and those who want their kids to be the next Tiger Woods...

supa 3 Report post Posted December 8, 2007 Just my .2 cents.Coming from a high performance athlete POV, I started training when I was 10. 6 hours a day in the winter, 10+ in the summer. 6 days a week, sometimes 7 depending on competitions. Went to specalized camps, missed usually 8-16 weeks of school. Had tutors, sports physcologists, the whole shebang. Did EVERYTHING in to improve my performance, usually twice. Running, weights everything. Screwed up some growth plates and really fucked up my tendons and ligaments while I was growing.(My parents did not push me at all, they actually tried to get me to quit...I didn't)Anyway, blew out my shoulder at 19 after a great showing at Europeans. Too much muscle mass, not enough rest. Now have constant pain, usually can't lift my arm over my head on a bad day. Need surgery.Kids need to be kids, not superstars. Their bodies can only handle so much, let alone their minds.so what you saying is you came here to gloat about yourself.. cause you obviously didnt read the story

Gongshow11 1 Report post Posted December 8, 2007 I went through this training starting at 14, and it is worth it IMO. I went hard every summer since, even though i developed late, my focus n increasing my speed every summer has helped me tremendously since 14. Summers are never fun for me though, but like NBH says, the season never ends

The odds of you making the NHL are slim, so if/when you don't make it you will be able to look back on yur childhood and really regret and realize what you lost and can never get back. Eazy_b97 1 Report post Posted December 8, 2007 I think alot of it is unnecessary, but would want to know more about the kid and off-ice training and his devotion. If he saw it on TV and asked his parents, then liked it, I'm not really opposed. I used to know a few kids like this at that age. Some were forced to shoot pucks outside until their parents let them in, others begged their parents for training every morning. To take'em to open skates so they could do circles.
