ChiefsHockey 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2004 Mike was not even in shape for that fight. Anyways he has always been feared and overated, so yea he should spend most of his time in his pigeon coupe then in the ring.
all-star 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2004 hes not done. he has like 6 fights sheduled over the next 3 years to get him out of debt.
Keith 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2004 His big problem is that he really doesn't want to be a prize fighter anymore. Unfortunately for him, it's not like he has any other way to readily make the money he requires right now. He has screwed himself over in recent years with inactivity. Boxing is not some sport where you can fight like once or twice every two years and expect to do well unless you are facing some complete stiff. When Foreman made his comeback in the 80s, he fought once a month for all intents and purposes. In the 70s, his stamina was poor but the comeback version of him had great staying power. Part of it was his heart, but a lot of it was just the activity of having to stay in fighting shape at all times in order to maintain that sort of schedule. Tyson supposedly started this training camp at 270, so just getting down to 233 had to take a lot of the starch out of him at his age. Look at Roy Jones... Having to drop the weight to fight Tarver really screwed with him on every level. You need total dedication to succeed at boxing. Hopkins is a great example of this... Guy is pushing 40 and keeps himself in near peak condition at all times. As for tyson, he has only himself and his management team to blame for last night. They had him penciled in to fight a complete tomato can in McBride, but when they found they would save like $270K by subbing in Williams they switched his opponent. It was a jackass move knowing he fights like crap against tall, heavy guys. I've been hearing tyson tore something in his knee in rd1 so his future is looking even worse boxing-wise. MNGopherFan09 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2004 Yeah, on Friday Night Fights they said his knee sprain or whatever it was may have had a large effect on him. Buster Douglas said he didn't look like he even wanted to be in the ring and was just waiting for the fight to be over.

NCPUCK26 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2004 Yeah he tore something in his knee first round. I've always been a big Tyson fan my whole life, but now it looks like he may be done. He did have 4 fights scheduled, but that may not be happening anymore. It's too bad, he used to be an animal.
