In terms of money, I am dependent on the economy but I am confident that things will turn around. I'm located in a very good IT sector so opportunity is in reach. Assuming I do something I like, the money is not such a priority but it would be nice.

The way to make the most money in IT these days is simple. Be a hybrid.

Have an engineering degree and get experience so you can apply those skills to a Training manager positon, Product Management, or Channel Development type of positons.

You will start out low on salary but has you gain experience and move onto other things you will make more money. Dont be scared to do things because it was not your major. Any task in the computer industry can be related back to an engineering degree.
