Lead Tape to balance your stick.

Recommended Posts

Well, this quote from TBLfan got me thinking...

I need to get some heavier shafts, some of the blades aren't exactly light. I dont mind weight but I have to have balance, my heaviest standard shaft is a pro stock flyweight the other is a CS2 redlite!

Has anyone ever tried or heard of anyone who tried to balance is stick with lead tape? It's very popular in tennis and almost every serious player has some somewhere on his racket to either change the balance or increase weight. I could see that under the handle tape or inside the shaft ton increase the weight. Any thoughts?

Here's lead tape: http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Accessorie...?CCODE=HeadTape

imo it would take alot of experimenting with the tape to get it in the right spot, but i don't see why it wouldn't work?

OT...or you could just get the tops of the sticks painted in a chinese toy factory

it definitely works, but its the stick is too blade-heavy it wouldn't be enough, plus i wouldnt want it too close to my hand in case of transfer. ive taped coins under the knob to get the same effect before.

I taped some pennies under the knob last night. What kind of effect will it have? The balance point has moved up the shaft, but what will happen to my wrister and slapper?

I have no idea man... In tennis, a head-heavy racquet will be more powerful while headlight has more control is you can generate your own power. I doubt this would apply to blade heavy/blade light hockey sticks.

I find that when the center of gravity is higher (i.e. closer to your hands) you have better control of the stick. a lower COG might then lead to a better shot
