Oberon

Okposo leaving college to sign with Islanders

Recommended Posts

I'm not saying he isn't, I'm going off of their track record.

agreed pretty much most of their coaches sucked till teddy. They had a few good ones, but I mean come on lets be serious.

Nolan has about another season left before he wears out his welcome on the island.

do any of you people posting on this topic play a college sport? and are in a position where you could go pro?

if you answered no to the first question, then you have no reason to bash this kid for leaving early.....i am part of a college sport, however my sport doesnt have a "pro level". i wrestle and i know that after college my sport is done.....college athletes have to think about this thought all the time...i could leave early and make millions or whatever or i could stay here in college and have the potential of getting hurt and never have this chance again...college athletes kind of get the boot if you are at a high level D1 program....the school makes millions of dollars off of these athletes and if the kid gets hurt then oh well we have others so they will never be able to see the next level....if i was him and approached i would be like hey coach i got a chance for my dream to come true and im going for it....ya know what coaches are going to tell him...i wish you could stay but take your shot

Eyed say hez prolley phailing hiz klases.

I'll spell it out clearly AGAIN, that he was having NO ISSUES in school what so ever.

As I said before, Garth Snow was quoted in the papers along the lines of- Kyle was not recieving proper coaching, nor was he getting any better.- NYI was not only the biggest advocate for him leaving, but the reason.

For the record, a few days later Tom Kurvers of the PHX Coyotes came out saying that Snow is completely wrong, and that there is a reason that not only the Gophers are one of the best teams in the country, but also that there is a reason why PHX scouts AND drafts Minnesotans, and Gophers heavily.

Last I heard, Kyle was making his debut tonight with Bridgeport of the AHL. Good luck to Kyle.

Just an update... Kyle has now played 2 games for the Sound Tigers. He had 2 assists on Friday against Binghamton on Friday, then a goal and 2 assists last night against Springfield.

It still a bit early to really comment but based on his first 2 performances the kid looks the real deal and has seemed to have put his bad start to this season behind him.

The Sound Tigers play Binghamton again tonight... hopefully we get to see more from KO tonight!
