Can I Turn A Lie 5 Into A Lie 4?

Recommended Posts

I have a XXX lite shaft with a Dolomite blade. I love the stick. But there's one problem. The lie is just a little too much for me. When I bought it, I though lie 5 was for me. Now I found I prefer a lie 4. How much would I have to cut down my stick to make it a lie 4? Or make it feel like a lie 4? I've asked people, and they said just cut it down. I like shorter sticks anyways. My sticks are usually lower than my chin.

If it's your first time with a Warrior blade, then the 4 lie is probably closer to a 5. Search the board, and there are multiple threads on how Warrior's lie's are approximately 1 lower than what they really are.

If you decide to cut the stick, cut a little at a time and see what works.

Usually, higher lie = shorter stick.

yeah, thats why he was saying to cut it because he's used to a lower lie. so with a higher lie, he'd need to cut his shaft.

LeafsLegacy: i wouldn't compromise at all. if you cut your shaft down to accomdate a lie that is too high for your preference, your game will suffer. i would bite the bullet and just buy the correct lie.

I buy it from a Pro Shop. I've looked around. AK 27 blades are $79.99. But they jacked up the price since it's a big deparentment store. I bought my Dolomite for $80. Vapor XXX Lite for $139.99. So the cost of a one piece =/.

Lol, I don't have a credit card as I am 15, and my dad doesn't like to pay anything online or pay by money orders. =/. I'm stuck with the jacked up prices for equipment =/.

Look around on eBay and look for sellers that accept Money Orders. That's how I did it back when I was your age.

First of all, what curve is it? Many of the blades Warrior lists as a 5 lie, are in fact much higher. The only way to make your blade a lower lie would be to shave down the heel of the blade. Since you're obviously dealing with a composite blade, shaving it isn't a realistic option. Making your stick a bit shorter can help some people, but changing length will completely screw up other people. Sell the blade to a buddy or on ebay and just buy a new blade. It sucks when a company doesn't tell the truth about the specs of their products, but what else can you do?

It's a Kovalev. I think it's accurate, but I misjudged my preference.

Their lies are terribly inaccurate, hence my earlier comment; " It sucks when a company doesn't tell the truth about the specs of their products, but what else can you do?"

Haha. I'll try to sell it..but most people use one pieces. If not, I'll just keep it as a back up blade. Do you know a curve that's similar to Kovalev's with a lie of 4?

Nobody makes a 4 in any style for sale at retail.

Damn. My favourite curve too.

What he said^^^ Seriously bro if it's gonna be that much of a headache and that much money to get a new blade, just go to a few stick and pucks and tool around, get used to it, and stick with it. Everyone has their preference but sometimes you gotta change. It's not just about hockey, it's about life...as you will find out as you advance further up the ladder away from being 15 years old :).

You shouldn't get used to a lie that is way wrong for you. At the very least, get as low as you can before you force yourself to adapt to a lie.

He says his dad doesn't like to pay for anything online. I'm suggesting he goes and gets Money Orders himself since he can't get a credit card.
