sorry to jack the thread, but do you think that there's a possibility that zigmund palfy could be signed by an NHL team in the next couple of seasons? a team in carolina's situation could really use palfy if he decided to come over from europe.

If he has played at all this season over there he would have to clear waivers before he could play in the NHL. I would imagine that a couple teams would either pick him up for themselves or at least to prevent another team from getting him.

i think he would have to convince alot of teams he is serious about playing again - because alot of teams won't want to take the risk and commit the money if he is just going to change his mind and retire again.

and as far as samsonov goes - for some reason he always reminded me of a better version of konstantine koltsov - had alot of potential but it just never really panned out. samsonov only plays well if he is surrounded by alot of talented people - he just can't do it on his own.

Not only did he NOT perform well with Kovalev (noted for his talent/ability), he dragged Kovy down last year. I'm not sure what lines he was on in Chi...but Toews, Kane Havlat....that's some talent right there. I think Sammy's problems are about his game...not anyone elses.

let me rephrase that then..

maybe the only reason he stayed in the league as long as he has, was because of some of his linemates

Yes, I'd agree with that. He was on a line with Thornton & Murray in Boston wasn't he? Hell, I could almost look good with those 2.

This guy's numbers steadily went down as his wrist injuries progressed.

Try playing hockey once both your wrists have been decimated, you'll suck too. Period.

to me hes a goo player but he needs to play with talent, like he gets frustraded if people dont play like he wants them too...

He never seems to want to take the easy option, hes trying to make everything look good like a Datsuk or Zeterberg...

Simplicity would help him lots...

There's been a Sergei Samsonov sighting, try saying that three times fast. He picked up an assist on the Hurricanes first goal tonight!!

It's a miracle, maybe I'll go buy a lotto ticket.

I actually watched that game on NHL network and he had some good moments there mostly due to his skating ability in that regard he is seems to be better then other guys in AHL. djinferno is right about simplicity though he was trying to do too much there and while he got away with it, if it was NHL I thing someone would have put his lights out or with some good checking just shut him down.

Nah, I meant Williams on CAR. I think he's out indefinitely for a while.

ACL Tear.

Samsonov looked pretty decent tonight, he's shown some good puck possession skills. I was rather impressed, that is until we (Car) had a PP, an extra attacker, and down a goal... well, samsonov dumped the puck into the corner with 10 seconds to go. what the hell. dumb dumb play.

He's looked pretty good since Carolina picked him...just saw another highlight package from the NYI/Car game he had an assist and was +2.

So what's so different in Carolina...?

He started taping his stick like Staal.

don't you mean taking his stick like Staal. ( I really need to find out how he takes his sticks) :D

Samsonov played very little with Thornton. His best production came with Khristich and as part of the GAS line with Alison and Guerin. He seemed to gel nicely with Nylander in his short stint in Beantown.
