Skate Problem

Recommended Posts

hey guys, i got a little problem with my skates. I have had one90's now since they have been out on retail and just recently i have noticed that once i hit the ice and try to stop hard or do pivots during warm-ups i have sharp pain on the inside of my ankle and then after i get into the game the pain goes away. i found out that the tongue wont stay straight and the lace is cutting into my ankle. is there any way to fix the tongue for it to stay straight or are theres any solutions to protect my ankle from the laces. Thanks.

I have a feeling that you might have depth issues with the skate. Should try the pencil test or have one of the LHS guys here weigh in.

You could lightly tape around the boot and tongue a few times to keep it in place...that will work but it will take some getting used to.

My tongue doesn't exactly stay straight either, but the farthest it goes to the side isn't much. There will be times i have to adjust it, but it usually doesn't have much room to move. Are your skates the right size? eg. I'm a 13 shoe in an 11 one90.

i dont use insoles like that, i wear 12 shoe and a 9.5 skate. im going to trying taping around the tongue and tendon guard and see if that works.

see if you can put one of those gel packs into that area, should alleviate the problem a little bit.

the link that tsanga gave looks pretty good... similar to any tennis shoe
