So has anyone seen this movie? It is older, 2004, but it still is very right.

Basically it is a movie about Rupert Murdoch and how he created FoxNews into a very Right-wing conservative(republican) News station. He adored Reagen in his time of presidency, and he is very right-wing himself, so that is reflected into his station. It is also a very good news station for Bill O'Reilly(total asshat) and Ann Coulter(another right wing nutjob). I wouldn't be surprised if FoxNews would hire the nutjobs at the Westboro baptist church? lol

But anyways watch it and see how it all works. Very interesting!

If you want you can watch it online!

So let us discuss about this. Some politics, and get away from the regular banter.

We don't get fox news up here in Canada, so is Fox News still like this?

Say what you want about Fox News not being "Fair and Balanced", but bottom line is that there is a huge market for conservative news. If there wasn't, Fox wouldn't be in business. Murdoch saw an opening in the economy and jumped on it. In my experiences most people don't give Fox News a fair shake. They jump all over it and claim how pro-right wing it is, but their only argument is that O'Reilly is an "asshat". Here is a thought, if you don't like Fox News, don't watch it. Its exactly what the conservatives do with CNN and MSNBC.

I know... the regular banter on mod squad HOCKEY is a drag!

IMO, you can discuss whatever you want, but please don't forget where exactly you are discussing it.

No the problem with it is that they are unfair during elections, and totally rip on all the Democrats. The people of America watch Fox News, and it is the only way they can find out about politics, and if they are not giving the Democrats equal time coverage on the network most people will vote for the Republicans. The media has a lot of say on politics, without the media the politicians voices wouldn't be heard. But during the 2004 elections they continued to bash Sen. John Kerry and like praised George Bush! What if there was no Fox News, then the world might be totally different, probably much much better.

And it doesn't get me mad that they are right winged, I obviously am opposite many of their views, that is their opinion I can respect it, but it is that they continue to bash the hell out of the left wing people.

I meant in this forum the misc. forum. Not throughout the forum. I know it is a hockey site, I sometimes post in the goalie forum(it isn't posted in much but I still do it) but I was talking about the regular banter in the misc forum, the "do you like my shoes" type threads. It was meant as a joke.

How is it that you are so informed on Fox News when you yourself say that you don't get the channel in your broadcast area?

Exactly. I don't know what you mean by bashing the Democrats and praising the Republicans. If you watch Fox (or any other channel for that matter) with a preconceived biased and you look for something, you'll find it. I am not a Fox News watcher, but I do think its good to have different media outlets. Studies have shown that the overwhelming majority of media personnel consider themselves liberal. Why is it bad that there is a station made up of mostly conservatives? And it isn't as if every personality on Fox is conservative anyway. Why are people so threatened by Fox? It seems you hear liberals bitch way more about Fox than the conservatives do about the other media outlets, and which one has the real power? If you think that Fox is the reason that Bush got elected and Kerry lost then I'm sorry but you're a complete idiot. It really blows my mind how people sit back and want only one take on current events and the news, people who call themselves liberals and praise the First Amendment.

I am not looking, you don't need to look, it is blatant!! It is out there, I may be biased, but anyone with eyes can see how unfair Foxnews is. Maybe not as much this election though. They are trying a bit harder to be "fair and balanced"

Why is it bad that there is a station made up of mostly conservatives?

It isn't bad that there is a station made up of mostly Republicans, it is the way they do it. Many shows on Fox have the big strong Republican host and their guests cannot get their message out because the host won't "shut up" and is loud and obnoxious, and will not let a liberal guest talk. But when a republican talks it is all ears. They make it out like the Republicans are strong and mighty, and the liberals are weak because they are not allowed to finish their topic. If they were talking in a civil state I probably wouldn't have taken up this topic.

And it isn't as if every personality on Fox is conservative anyway. Why are people so threatened by Fox?

Again they have a big strong republican, and a rather small and quiet liberal/

Did I say that? Did I clearly say "Bush only won because of Fox!!"? No I didn't, I was just stating that what if there was no fox, what if there was even air time between the Liberals and Democrats. It was something like 89% of the people that were interviewed on FoxNews were conservatives!!

How is it that you are so informed on Fox News when you yourself say that you don't get the channel in your broadcast area?

It's called the internet, it has a library of videos

Maybe because the liberals actually have somthing to bitch about???

Fox is a freaking joke, just look at the way they select politicians for live discussions. They have a list with weak democrats that they go to everytime because they know the "democrat" will completely fold in a discussion and agree with his republican counterparts views 9 out of 10 times.

I'm not saying FOX is the reason Bush won over Kerry, but it sure as hell helped alot more than you'd fear to imagine.

A completely bias US Tv-station that's more similar to a USSR national propoganga tv-station than a station based on real journalism.

Its completely ridiculous that you would liken Fox News to anything Soviet. Christ, you are the ones whose agenda seems to want a singular news source with no outside coverage. You can't convince me that there is something as a non-biased media outlet in the US, or anywhere else in the world.

And I don't buy your belief that you get a good viewing of the station from video libraries online. Are you going to watch any old Brit Hume or Neal Cavuto? No, you're going to watch some obscure clip that some commie highlighted. I seriously cannot believe how retarded you guys sound over this. Its a cable TV station that people choose to watch. Go reread the first amendment to the Constitution.

Kosydar: Some people say get a grip, I'm not saying FOX is similar to the old Soviet Propoganga machine in it's views....

I'm saying their methods and intent to send out completely bias news is similar.

I'm well aware that every media outlet has it's own political view, be it newspapers, internet or tv.

But real journalism is based on telling real facts and stories, not making up your own stuff.

North Korea loves John Kerry. end of discussion....

You can also be fically conservative and socially liberal, they generally border on being liberterian. Unfortunately we have a fiscally liberal, socially conservative president. It's probably the worst combination possible in my mind.

Something like this is all relative. You have a liberal point of view, so you see Fox News and think that they are just right wing cheerleaders whereas someone who has more of a conservative point of view sees Fox News and thinks, "hey, they have a good point."

Now, when a conservative person looks at CNN, MSNBC, PBS, NBC, CBS, ABC, etc... might think that are biased, and liberal person thinks they have a good point.

You might think that Fox News is evil and all that, but they are just a news station that decided to step away from the norm.

God forbid their be a news outlet for someone with a conservative point of view.
