Speed hockey

Recommended Posts

Have any of you guys ever heard of speed hockey. I heard about it a couple of years ago, but then it just kinda vanished. I tried searching but didnt really find anything. I was just wondering what your guys opinions are of it and if it is still around. You can go here to learn more about it.

I am not affliated with the speed hockey organization in any way, i am just curious to know what you guys think of it.

Well I believe Speed Hockey was down graded from a force 5 to a tropical depression....It appears that one rink has been converted to the playing format..in Pa., and that there may be a televised "tournament" series much like was done for Pro Beach, as opposed to a flat out national league organization.

Another new elite league was just announced today...the XIHL, which will also be a full contact inline hockey league/semi pro/ aaa stature...limited details are yet available, as the site was just put up, and the detailed information is not yet posted. I have heard that the PIHA organization may also be under the parent group..American Inline Hockey Properties LLC. There is supposed to be a series of games under a "festival" format(tournament series?) this fall..2004, with full league play commencing in Sept. of 2005

I assume that the PIHA will operate it's season starting in January 2005...but this is just an assumption as yet.

Not sure what the status of the MLRH is now..awaiting details there as well..have heard rumors of a "MLRH Superleague" being formed..but am awaiting details. MLRH is definitely working on growing it's Euro league.

The picture grows ever stranger........

The one rink here is doing a speed hockey tourney, but they're doing it on ice. They're having problems getting people to sign up and they're surprised.

I thought they had converted "Doc's"(Charley Yoder's rink) to a Speed Hockey venue...things change quickly

They may have, I'm not in the loop on most of the inline stuff around here. I just thought it was interesting they were trying to take the concept to ice as well.

and now Charlie is affilaited with this XiHL...

There is so much going on behind the scenes that I think the announcements have been premature, driven largely by players and some fans who want to know what is going on.

I just got an email from teh rink about the ice version of speed hockey they are running. Due to lack of interest, it's free to all teams and the ref fee is $25. The only problem is they haven't contracted the ref association about it, so I'm interested in seeing who the refs are.
