Repairing Gloves

Recommended Posts

I've got a pair of gloves that I love, but the synthetic leather is starting to rip on the exterior. I was wondering if it would be possible to "refurbish" them when they get really beaten up. My question is this: what are the chances of getting ahold of some of the nylon that Easton or Eagle uses in their gloves, and then taking them to a shoe repair place or somewhere like that to get the material on the old pair replaced with the nylon? I know the rolls might be hard to replace like this, but maybe at least the fingers could be done like this.

This would probably be expensive as all hell, but it might be worth it if you wanted to extend the life of a comfy pair of gloves, or if you simply wanted to convert a glove from synthetic leather to nylon. I'm just not sure if that nylon is at all available to the public, and also if it would actually be possible to get someone to do the labour for you. Anyone have any thoughts/ideas?

What gloves are these anyways? You will probably be better off trying to buy a pair of Nylon Eagles which are for sure to be comfortable and light weight. It would probably cost you just as much too, and you don't know that whoever you take it to knows how to make it tough enough so that the whole thing won't come apart the first time you fall on the ice. I actually just took my gloves to the shoemaker to have them sow on a new piece of leather over my palm on my left hand, as they it is showing wear and I don't want it to get a hole.

They're Easton Z-Air prostocks from a few years ago, and i've never seen a pair in nylon. Definitely my favourite gloves i've used, so I want to get a lot of life out of them.
