Tackla Pants

Recommended Posts

Im on the market for shorts, since this past weekend i have recieved my third quadricep contusion (bad dead leg) of the season, and since I cant really walk, i've been sitting here trying to find replacements for my Supreme 2000 (team kit) shorts.

From everyone ive spoken to, they have said they love tacklas both comfort and protection wise, but, in terms of movement, i didnt ask. Since the shorts i have been using are low range, the freedom of movement has been good as there is little padding. So from experienve, can anyone tell me their thoughts on the higher level tackla pants (ex-pp 44/55's) in terms of movement restriction (lateral etc).

Thanks in advance

I've been wearing Tackla 5000x's for a long, long time and have found them to be extremely protective yet very mobile. They kind of pop over your hips when putting them on but are very loose below the waist.....it's hard to describe, but I've never had to wear suspenders with them. They are a two piece pant and the upper part is almost like a girdle the way it wraps you, but it has tons of flex. The legs have a great hinged leg pad setup that just floats around your legs, they dont really ever bind up your stride. They are just a great pant- super durable but break in quick.

I've had some nasty spills, slams, and hits in them and have (so far) avoided injury in the area they protect. I ended up in them after I broke my coccyx in a minor fall while wearing Louisville TPS Gold pants way back when- this was their top end pant at that point! A guy recommended the 5000x and it's been that way for me ever since.

I cant emphasize enough how good Tackla pants are. IMO best protection and movement and comfort. I wore them since I was really young and through Junior. They can get pricey but well worth the cost. The only pant I found close in terms of comfort and protection was the old Easton Air models. Very similar fit. All hail Tackla.

Best protective equipment I've owned. I started buying Tacklas about 20 years ago when I was having problems with hip pointers and have never left the Tackla line since then (and have never had a hip injury since then). Tremendous quality--great protection, good movement. I don't think any hockey product line has been better since the Bauer Supreme line of skates were redesigned--I assume following the Nike takeover. Go for the Tacklas, you won't regret it.

I'm wearing Tackla 5000's as well and find them extremely protective. They are also the most mobile pants I've ever owned. Once these breezers loosen up they are absolutely phenominal. It only takes about seven to ten games to notice just how mobile they are. I also wear Easton S-5's which also offer very good protection but aren't nearly as flexable as the Tacklas. The Eastons are still a bit on the stiff side even after a year and a half of use but they are very protective as well and I use them for pickup. I highly recommend Tacklas. Unless you don't like the European fit (which takes a little getting use to) I know you won't be disappointed with Tackla pants.

My Tackla's fit nicely, they are nice and tight around the waist yet loose and very mobile in the legs. There was also virtually no break-in period

this is going into the 3rd year i've had my tackla 951 pants and i've had no problems with them. the shell is ripping on the side a little and i've got some burn marks or whatever they are on the front but no biggie

everything is still in tact. it feels great, solid protection and decent mobility

not too heavy either

Didn't want to start yet another Tackla thread but could anyone please tell me the difference between the 5000 Air and the 5000x (or Pro). Also, what level pant is the 5000Air? Thank's fellas!
