Fletch

Here we go again.....

Recommended Posts

I went under the knife again on Friday for reconstructive flat foot surgery (this time on my right foot). I got a number of things done, basically the same exact procedure as I did on my left foot (including the MBA subtalar implant) back in August but this time I didn't need to have the gastroc recession procedure done and I had my Haglund's deformity removed.

In any case...another 6 weeks of crutches, 5-6 months recovery time. I'm happy to say that my left foot feels pretty damn good and I only have pain in one spot on it. Can't wait to get back on the ice in July....my reward to myself for going through with this is going to be a nice new pair of skates...probably the One95's or Vapor XXXX's.

Oh and thank god for laptops and wireless routers ;)

Are you going to have Frankenstein feet?

They'll look 10 times better than they did before....right now my left foot looks normal, but with 4 different 3 inch scars all over it. And all I need to do now is break my left arm bad enough to need a plate in there and I'll have metal in all four limbs.

So I guess you wont be joining any foot fetish groups anytime soon....Thats some serious surgery my friend. Metal detectors must just love you. Air cast or crutches?

Crutches....6 weeks. And thankfully, metal detectors don't go off for me when I go through them (I have to travel a couple times a month for work). However, the metal detecting "wands" go off when they brush me down with them at Staples Center.

Peter's better off than you my friend. Buddy of mine tore his up boozed once. 9 screws and a metal plate. Worst part? I took him to the ER and they didnt admit him cause we were sauce. Go Figure. Now you have to come up with a story to tell the broads. Something about saving a child from a burning car or something. Get creative.

From my Doctor's visit today -

My ex was a dancer for the first 19 years of her life and had the same surgery to correct the unnatural curvature of her feet due to ballet. The only redeeming factor was that she was on her back most of the time. :P

Work the sympathy angle.....and the "there is only one thing that gets the pain out of my mind". She threw it at me all the time.....and I was more than happy to oblige. ;)

If I say that she'll throw me some vaseline and a victoria's secret catalog.

Sounds like you got a good one. I like a girl with a sense of humor and some wit to her. ;)

Yeah, she's good....we have a 1 year old son, she's 5 months pregnant with our daughter and she's gotta deal with me on crutches for 5 more weeks. I think I'll keep her around ;)

Good for you two.

Keep the head/spirits up. I've been there before (4 months in a wheel chair and 4 more on crutches after a massive knee surgery)....just keep it positive and you'll be back on the ice soon.

By all means let us know how you make out.

Will do....I went through this just a few months ago with my left foot and it wasn't too bad. Granted, our little guy wasn't walking yet and she wasn't pregnant again but hey, that's life. We'll be ok :)

That foot needs a toe tag. If you need anything Roger said he'll come over to help out.

LOL...he already has helped us lift some stuff from the car to our place.

And watch out - these feet may look terrible now but I'm gonna skate like Paul Coffey soon enough ;)

Do you get the orange liquid stuff drip out of it? When I had knee surgery I used to show people that stuff, always got a good reaction.

Uhhh....no. All of my cuts are stitched up good, thankfully.

speedy recovery to you...

anyway, metal detectors dont really pick these up. I've got a couple screws in my knee, and so far has not really pick up at the airports. Different story getting oout of the barracks when I was serving... lucky I was the one who normally initiated the usage of the metal detectors at the guardhouse, and supervised the guys using them.
