NEW Skates, How can I protect them?

Recommended Posts

what is this Queer Eye for the Hockey Guy. They are skates, the more worn they look the more you would like you played.

you guys need gf's. and sleeping with you stick at night doesnt count

With the masculinity that drips from your posts, I'm pretty sure you've had sex with an Oggie grip. Glass houses, child.

i wasnt talking about the toes, i was talking about the white neoprene material and the outter materials.

FYI, neoprene is what wetsuits and knee braces are made of.

try armour all protect wipes takes some puck marks off and kinda keeps more from accumulating. just wipe off the excess or you'll have shiny white 9k's. also keeps the toe caps lookin sharp.

Why dont you guys just punch yourselves in the face! Then go and get a vasectomy so you dont teach your future kids about how to pretend your tough, bad ass hockey players ON LINE!!! And if your idea of a response to my vasectomy idea is, "I already have kids buddy!" Then do the world a favor, and go play catch with your kids, and never again mention to them that you were acting like a bad ass on a chat room!

Hey guys, i just got some 9k whites this morning. Is there any type of protective treatment i can buy, either at a pro shop, or from like footlocker or something, that I can coat my skates with so they dont get dirty, and so they dont soak in water.

look buddy, you are playing hockey, they are gonna get a few puck marks maybe, but it's not like you are rolling around in the mud

Maybe this website isn't for you. Does Cosmopolitan have a message board?

You'd probably have more success promoting reconciliation if you used a less aggressive tone...

Now let's all sing kumbaya!

Then perhaps exclamation points would be a bad idea.

I use the brush on toe protect stuff on the toes of my Tacks. I have never had a problem with it and it really does keep the toes on the old school type skates from getting torn up. I also have a pair of the old model kevlar (green) CCM 755 Tacks that got so torn up playing roller hockey that I painted on a very thin layer all over the boots except for the leather trim and it worked out great. A thin layer doesn't seem to add any stiffness to the material but it does coat frayed areas and give a nice layer of protection.

Wouldn't something like "Magic Eraser" run the risk of damaging the skate...or break down the protectiveness (?) of the area it is used on.

Not that I'm planning on polishing my skates, but before someone else tries, I'm curious.

well ill be sure to try these things out and let you guys know how it turns out. nothing wrong with keeping your skates looking sharp , especially whem theyre as sweet as the 9ks. dont be ashamed if you do the same, its just respecting the things one has. I bust my ass for the money I make and when i get something nice i value it, unlike some spoiled mofo's who are in their late 20's still living at home.

Yeah but I just thought it was weird that for a guy who said that he got invited to an NHL rookie camp, you sure dont know much about how to care for your skates......I just find that a little funny. I would think you would have learned to ropes by now....
