Need help with Novius shafts.

Recommended Posts

So i bought those Innovative shafts from the bay, they are repainted as Innovative shafts, 1100 color, usually sold as Federov shafts.

I was happy to see that they were Novius as i read it inside the shaft but i was wondering about the hand issue. Novius shafts are right or left handed only right? How can i know what hand they are?

Here's what the inscription says inside the shaft: NOVIUS T2 INN2426 W35 04.

They are standard shafts.

Can anybody help?

If i try them out, will i feel if they are right handed?

you will know which hand they fit based on the way the graphics face. Also this is a concave shaft so whichever hand you are the bottom hands fingertips will press against the concave. Sort of like a groove throughout the whole shaft for you hand. So if innovative reads up from the bottom end of the stick, and the concave is on that same side then its a righty, and vice versa

Interesting. I have one at home and will see if this is correct. You would think that the # in the shaft would at lest have an rt or lt added to the #s.

If the shaft ends up being a different shot shot then you can always turn it upside down and pop a blade in it.

Thanks for the reply, i didn't think about graphics. So if, when olding my stick, graphics are upside down, i have the wrong hand? That would be logic. Concave is the same on both side, so that won't change anything.

So anybody want 2 nice repainted novius shafts? They're probably lefties. They feel so nice in my hands, i can't believe this.

What if i use the shafts with the graphics facing the ice? That would make the shaft act like a lefty wouldn't it?

I can't believe they repainted those novius without mentioning the hand, gotta thank MSH for that knowledge.

Rhino, when you say "turn the shaft upside down", you mean put the blade in the same end, just different direction right?

With Novius shafts I believe the boron spine was on was the same side the stickers on the inside of the shaft are on. So you may want to take a look at that again to see which orientation the shafts should be in to use them correctly.

What I mean is that if it is a standard shaft then the blade will fit the same on either end of the shaft. Another way to check left or right is to pop a blade in and try to flex it. The shaft will flex easier one way than another.

How about this. I'll look inside mine tonight and see what the # are. Maybe they will match some how and we can get to the bottom of this.

ambro, that would be wrong because stickers are on different sides on the 2 shafts. Thanks for the help tho.

Rhino, that would be great.

Are standard Novius shafts a common thing? I've only seen tapered before.

Since they're unmarked, why couldn't each one be a different hand than the other? It's not like Inno only made one hand of the shaft. Trust me, I remember when I had a "right" Novius but the sticker was on the side where it should have been marked a lefty. I used it as a lefty shaft and it was obvious that the shaft was marked incorrectly. The sticker is on the same side as the spine.

And yes, standard Noviuses are/were quite common, a standard was the first Inno shaft I tried.

Well, i guess you could be right but that seemed impossible to me since the shafts are totally identical so i assumed they were the same. Since they are repainted i guess it could be possible that they are different hands.

According to you, i'll know it immediatly if they are not right handed? It will just feel bad or what?

Thanks.

Yeah, and all Warrior did was put their graphics over Inno's sticks, so if you didn't like those, you won't be too impressed with your AK's either.

Yeah, well Inno/Warrior is known for mislabeling (flexes, hands of Novius shafts, etc) so this isn't all that out of the ordinary for them. You should be able to tell a difference, but you probably wouldn't be able to tell just flexing them. Taking them out in practice/game situation the difference would become more apparent.

Bump, still looking for some help. Can anybody confirm ambro's theory about the sticker's side inside but with 100% certitude? How about the paint too?

Just wondering when was that "tonight" you were talking about. :P Seriously, if you could take a peek, i'd appreciate.

They're actually for sale now and i can't really try them out since i'd have to cut them down a lot, they're 51".

I'll confirm what Ambro said. The inside sticker at the bottom of the shaft goes on the backhand side of the blade that is inserted into the shaft. It does sound like you have a righty and a lefty shaft. However, like someone else pointed out, Inno was known for mismarking their shafts. I shoot righty but I have a lefty Hespeler F4 Matrix (Hespeler's version of the Novius) and all I did was spin the shaft so the boron spine still goes on the backhand side. The graphics are backward (not upside down) but the looks of it doesn't matter to me as much as the performance aspect of it.

By the way, I do have a right handed Novius, also so I am familiar with the shaft.
