Punching out the side on One90s

Recommended Posts

I have a question about punching out the side of a One90. First off, the skates fit very well with the exception of a single hot spot.

It's not a question of going to a wider boot, because my feet would swim in them. On the lateral aspect of my feet, roughly halfway from heel to toe, the bone projects out slightly, so in every pair of skates I've had for the past 5 or 6 years I've needed to get that one spot punched out just a bit. It doesn't bother me when skating, but when I take off my skates after a session I have significant soreness on that bony protuberance which goes away after a short period of time.

I want to know if the One90s can be punched out in that area, even just a tiny bit, to create a bit more room. I thought I remember being told the material can't be expanded so I figured I'd ask here before going down to my LHS to get it done. Thanks folks.

they can be punched, I have a wider foot but I have a high instep... I had my one90's punched in the inside of both arches and on the outside by my small toes on both skates

my guy punched them in small increments, had me try them on and made adjustments, he may have punched them 3 times on each spot on each skate... they've held up well for me so far, no problems

What about the Vapor XXXX's I'm having almost the same exact problem with an enlarged bone near my ankle.

Unless the boot is composite, it can be punched or stretched. Anyone who was a sucker and bought Easton composite boots is out of luck. All Bauers can be punched and stretched.

Any tips for streaching the top cap (width)? I am only looking to get 2-3 months out of my skates...

Where can you get skates streched? Skate shop or shoe cobbler?
