OUR medical system is fucked up? Dude. Are you speaking of the US? The Medical care in the US is the best in the world!!!! By FAR!!! It is however very expensive. The Health insurance is what's F'd Up DUDE!! And for those of you that bitch that we need health care for everyone...blah, blah, blah...Everyone in the US can get anything taken care with out insurance or an ability to pay. The press, and politicians that are pro gov't heath care do not tell you, but fed law requires any hospital to take care of you whther you can pay or not. How do you think all the Mexican's are coming to the US and giving birth in the US so they can leagally stay. It's not because they have $10,000.00 in pocket to pay for it! They get it free, just like any American can have. It's the Insurance companies and Health care coverage that is screwed. Not the Care!! Oh ya "Dude"!
Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 Not to say you point isn't quite valid, but it is always nice to hear Canadians makeing smart a$$ comments in criticism of the US!!I've made five trips to Canada in the past three years, as well as spent time time with them the past four days. The sad truth is a larger percentage of them are more aware of OUR political system than Americans are.I was in Toronto two days after the 2004 election and it was striking how much more political conversation I heard, since it was so much more than I had heard in everyday conversation in the US. Without doubt, we had been bombarded by it in political ads, but it was obvious Canadians took the process more to heart than the average American.

Oh ya "Dude"!Best in the World?off the top of my head the WHO ranks the US 37th overall. The best Health care in the world can be found in France and Holland and other European Nations. Yes they are required to give you medical care, but expect a bill in the mail shortly after nothing is free especially procedures that can reach into the thousands and hundreds of thousands. Also the remark about mexicans givin birth so they can stay in the country, last time i checked its pretty hard to bill someone you have no true information on such as an illegal immigrant. This must be some sort of international emergency, the UN must be whipped into crisis mode! I mean cmon, Congress only works a few months a year, gets paid $150k per annum and is immune from all the laws they make, it's a fantasy camp!

I work for the State Medicaid program.... it's pretty interesting, and hopefully the Massachusetts Health Care Reform will spark changes across the entire US. As it does address the fact that not all families, incomes, etc can afford the absurd costs of private insurance carriers. Hockeydoc is correct, no hospital can deny a person medical treatment. But nowadays, at least in Mass.. hospitals are privatized, and are losing bucks, so they're obviously rallying behind Health Care Reform...

Also the remark about mexicans givin birth so they can stay in the country, last time i checked its pretty hard to bill someone you have no true information on such as an illegal immigrant.I've seen some rankings consistant with those #'s. The criteria they are based on has very little to do with the actual care for the patient.I can personnally speak for the Health care in Holland, which is quite like the care in Canada. You go to a Hockey game and blow out a knee; in the US you can get an MRI with in 24hrs without insurance or coming up with any cash. I challange you or anyone else to do that in Holland!! 9month waiting list in Holland, very similar care to that found at the VA her in the US.Yes you will get a bill, and maybe for many thousands of dollars, but they won't, and can't do anything to you at all if you merely send them $25.00 a month. If you don't send them a meesly $25.00 a month the worst they can do is put bad marks on your credit. For someone that can't afford $25.00 a month they won't mind a negative mark on their credit either. For the Illegal immigrants, true that can't bill them, and hense like I said, they just received $10,000.00 worth of the best Medical care in the world for FREE!!!I don't believe our system is the best, but the care is the Best!! and no BS ratings can deny that. mack 44 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 The system is just...yeah, wonky to say the least. The care is good, as mentioned, but how much responsibility do the patients themselves have with the cost? Thanks to the litigious nature of this country, malpractice insurance is insanely high. I think my mother's hitting around six figures in premiums a year for it.
