Bauer & Vapor skate fit

Quick question about Bauer Supreme & Vapor skates...

My son at the beginning of this year got some new Vapor XXX skates. Initially they were fine but he then developed pain on the back of both heels. Coincidently the sole was delaminating a bit so we were able to return then and then got some Supreme 70 skates. He also get heel pain in these as well but adding some moleskin on the heel helped him. Previous to this he wore CCM Tacks and Vectors with no such problem.

Well 2 months into the season he switched back to goalie, he was having a hard time during the summer deciding between player and goalie, and is in some CCM Vector goalie skates that he just loves comfort wise. Last week just for fun he put on his player gear for stick and puck and wore his Supreme 70 skates. He again complained about heel pain.

Why do the new Vapor and Supreme skates hurt my son's heel? They are not too big for him.

Do you think he will be able to wear Rbk, player and goalie, skates with no problem?

the heel pocket may be too narrow because nike bauer tends to have a narrow heel fit. That may be the reason why. If your son likes the vectors why don't he just get a pair of vectors.

We got the Bauers because the store we went to only had low-end Vectors and the Rbks at the same price point as the Bauers seemed flimsy in comparision. My son likes a stiff skate which the Rbk's weren't.

We will stay away from the Bauers going forward. Interestingly there is a older bantam goalie who comes out and teaches my son and he get new Vapor goalie skates, previously he had older Bauer goalie skates, and both of his heels are rubbed raw in the same place my son was having pain.

Anyone have a opinion if my son will have problems wearing Rbks? Alot of stores won't carry the higher end Vector goalie skates only the Rbk's.

I just got a new pair of skates and tried on just about everything out there.

I found RBK's to have a similar fit to a wide Vapor skate, except with more room at the heel. Vectors were a little slimmer than the RBK but with an overall similar shape. Since I have a narrow heel and wide foot, I went with the Vapors. Sounds like your son likes the fit of RBK's, go for it.

It seems like the consensus around here is that Bauer skates have a 'standard' heel width, so maybe an EE width is in order.
