RBK 6K Profeel OPS

Recommended Posts

I have searched this but have only come up with info on the shaft. The old blue and white 6k profeel is on for a decent price at a LHS - what's the word on them:

Performance?

Durability?

Feel?

I might grab one to try out, but I won't bother if it will snap on me in no time - I am looking at grabbing a reg flex for my wrister league.

Thanks.

typical RBK. Blades suck on durability, shaft is pretty decent. Feel is alright, balance is not bad. Plenty of people like them, me? I've never liked a stick the had RBK on it that wasn't a repainted Vector.

Would I be correct in assuming that when the blade snaps I will be left with a tapered shaft?

That would be a safe bet but I'm not going to give you a definitive answer because I honestly haven't heard of anyone turning it into a shaft... But it isn't the most popular stick in the world, so less people using them, less cutting or pulling blades. What you need to find out is whether the RBKs are made in a bladder mold process like CCMs.

From my experience (and what I remember) It's a brick. Very boxy, and heavy. Mine lasted forever and ended up having to sell it because I ran out of use for it. I can't comment on negative durability issues as I haven't had any. I'll post a link from way back on these.

I love my 7k sticks. I held a 6k shaft in a store and thought it was fairly nice. Seems like it was a little heavier maybe than the 6k. I've also heard good things on them, especially for 30 to 40 bucks.

Thanks guys. I was asking because they are on sale near here for $75, and I am looking for a lower flex stick for my weekend warrior league - you know, the one where the goals get described better after each beer - lol. Anyway, it will be primarily used for wristers and snap-shots. I wouldn't worry about the boxy feel - I have big paws, and actually prefer lrger, boxier shafts. The release and durability would be my concern - I am looking for something that released the quick wristers like my 85 flex AK did.

I got a RBK 6K acouple months before any of the RBK stuff hit the market. I recurved it atleast 50 times and used it for almost 2 years. Without a doubt the most durable stick I have ever used. Right now Im using Koho 4490 OPS which are the same exact thing and so far they are amazing sticks, although they are around the 460-470g mark I dont think they are heavy at all.

Picked one up today - got the DK15 curve - Datsyuk, I assume. Anyway, I don't care for the feel of it, and it will take some time to get used to it...shaft seems ok, but I am not sold on the blade.

Thanks for the info, guys.

OK - final verdict on this stick - POS. This is based, of course, on my experience and opinion, but the blade is now in two pieces. I used in 3 drop-ins and one beer league game since buying it last Friday and the blade turned to sponge and snapped in two this evening on a slap-shot.

The shaft is still intact, and I am torn between tearing the piece of blade out and putting a woody in there, or returning for another one - I will ask if I can pay the difference and take another Ballistik since they still have a few of them on clearance...won't hold my breath though.
