Kovy_Ribs_Fedo 3 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 An Alexei Kovalev who plays every shift and every game...Kovalev is definitely the closest player to perfection I have ever seen when we speak of hockey technique only. His skating, shooting and stickhandling are close to perfection and he's one of the strongest player physically in the NHL.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 I think we had a topic like this before. A Lecavalier or Kovalev with the vision/smarts of Gretzky and heart of St Louis(gives 100% every shift). Out of those two though, I think Lecavalier would take if because of how well he protects the puck... when he wants to.
Wolfpack_1986 154 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 yeah, really. I'd say Lecavalier is probably the best all around hockey player out there, except the lack of heart and hustle holds him back.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 It really is a shame, he is still my favorite player but there's no bigger knock on anyone than saying that they have no heart in what they do the best... He's the most talented player I have seen play the game, live or on tv... Just no heart. When he wants to play, he's clearly the best on the ice. Example, 2004 playoffs versus the Canadians. Particularly, game 2. Don't remember how many points he had but when you watched the game it was like Lecavalier vs the Canadians, the Canadians lost. I'm just glad that I got to see it from the stands, for that ONE night he looked like what I remember seeing Gretzky look like on tv. That's when Lecavalier became my favorite player.
