Well if you are talking about the border between ND and MN I know there is a Hockey Zone in Moorhead and a PIAS in Fargo with good selections. Scheels has a little bit of hockey stuff in Fargo.

i stopped at the HG in bloomington, and they could give a shit if you walked in the door with a handful of Benjamins, they wont help you.

nice assortment of product, escpecially cheap Gophers shirts and things, but customer service was second to everyone

In the Twin Cities area, three come to mind. Dave's Sport Shop in Fridley, Westwood Sports in Bloomington, and Strauss Skates in Maplewood. Other members around here will probably chime in with their favorites, too. As Buzz stated above, don't go to Hockey Giant unless you know exactly what you want and only want employee contact at the cash register. And don't get your skates sharpened there.

HockeyZone in St. Cloud has awesome staff. I used to shop at Scheel's then felt dirty for it the first day I set foot in HockeyZone. They have a pretty good selection (not huge), the staff is awesome and the one time I needed help the associate seemed very knowledgeable. Prices were actually cheaper than Scheel's a few times too. If not cheaper then around the same price as anywhere else.

There are a TON of good hockey shops in Minnesota. Dave's Sport Shop in Fridley, Sports World in Eden Prairie, both Westwood Sports locations in Apple Valley and Bloomington. Hanus Sports in Deephaven, Sports Hut in Wayzata always has a ton of hockey gear but expensive. (wealthy area) General Sports in Edina on 50th & France is a great place too. It is probably 80% hockey and 20% soccer/football/baseball. I've never been to Strauss up in Maplewood though. There is a small shop near me in Shakopee that specializes in golf/running stuff, but has maybe 10 skate models on display and various sticks and other gear too.

Does Clafton Skate up in Grand Rapids still have hockey gear? I'm sure there are a few places on the Range and so on.

I picked up a sweet Graf hoodie at Westwood Sports in AV.

Ditto. Hockey Giant is a joke. Terrible selection and the staff seems to know nothing about the game.

General Sports in Edina is decent, too, but not as good as the other 3 mentioned.

Clafton Is still there. On the range that is the only one I know of worth mentioning. Pretty good selection and decent prices there.
