Are the S15s protective and durable?

Recommended Posts

- I had the nike bauer one90s for 7 months and they were good for the first month and then they sucked, broke. I tried the xxxx skates but didn't like the feel. Instead my coach told me to go with him to easton and try on the S15 skates. I fell in love with them.

- Recently I went on youtube and I saw the one95s vs the S15s in that puck test to see how protective the skate were and the S15 weren't. Is this just a lie or the truth? Are the stealths durable? Because I want them to last at least till the end of the season (54 games).

For protection i had no problems. I know people havent had huge problems but i did for durability. The tendon guard lost the screw on the back on both skates and was loose. The leather on the outside fell off in a spot after getting stepped on and it was very flexible and i could feel water coming through. Also the glue is crap and the leather was peeling off the whole skate. the toe cap had half the material hanging off of it and was wearing off along the sides even though i put toe protection stuff on it. Overall these skates were the worst investment I ever made. The only good thing i can say is they sent me a new pair even though some of the same problems are occuring again.

After only about 30 high school games.

They are one of the lightest, best performing, and quickest to break down and fall apart skates on the market. That statement about sums up the S15.

Protection - on another level

Performance - on another level

Durability - Questionable

I have used both the One90 and S15. Both are very protective and light. The One90 didn't work for me because of the lack of any substantial ankle padding and a previous injury. After 6 months of using the S15 parts of the skate started to separate as the glue failed. I have now had to glue several parts of both skates back together. Good news is that super glue has worked well. While I really like the S15, I'd be reluctant to buy them again not knowing whether the problem I experienced is widespread and whether Easton has acknowledged the problem and taken steps to correct it.

Same could be said for the Synergy. Kid on my sons team is on his second pair (first pair replaced after falling apart) and they're also falling apart.

i suggest trying vectors too, if they fit your feet. vectors are protective, high performing and reliable. they aren't as light as the other top skates but skates are so light now anyways that it doesn't really matter. i mean, do you think you ever would have scored an extra goal if your skates were 50grams lighter?

i have had vector 7.5's and now i wear 10.0se's. both have been very reliable.

I haven't had a problem with durability or protection with the 15's. Transitioned from the 1500's, didn't have a problem with those skates either. Maybe all the good skates get shipped to California?

-i got them customed, white ones, they came down to my house and easton customed them. If they aren't durable ill either use the one95s or go back to my previous favourite skate: synergy 1500c. Best skate ever just not the lightest.

tanx for feedback
