0-2 for me. I play on average 2-3 times a week year round. I'm on my second comp. Synthesis blade since Oct. '03, the first one lasting me 5 months. The second one I'm using now is still holding up well, though I'll be looking for replacements when more stores here start getting in their stock. I have never broken a shaft either, ever.

Yes, seriously, how do you guys break so many sticks ? I could see defenseman breaking them more and bigger guys that put more force on it but I'm guessing most of you aren't that big. I just broke my Si-Core after 1.5 seasons. But I take mostly snap shots so maybe taking enough slappers breaks them.

I don't really take slappers much at all. I was coming to the bench, and kind of put some force on the stick, and the blade broke in half. Not sure what I did to it though.

I used to break like 20 wood blades per year, then I got a synergy that lasted me a hole year... (but I hated the feel of the blade) Now I use Eastons carbon wood blades and they hold up surprisinly well, and I slap shot and one time slap shot every chance i get....

I only bought one syth blade and it never lasted 5 days, broke 2nd time using.

I said 6-8, all composite. If I used wood it would be way over 20.

as you guys kno some sticks are much less durable than others, and what kinda place you play in makes a huge difference. up until this year i had never broken a shaft but broke 2 110 zbubbles. those dont have a great rep for durability but we practiced in the coldest rink ive ever been in and both snapped in practice...imo most ops arent durable enough (mission and inno do pretty good tho) and ones of those i broke all happened on slashes.

Since I've re-stocked on AC 7100s, no more shaft breakage but they'll still warp. Blades? I'd say at least a couple dozen but I use wood. Basically only use a OPS if its curve/flex fit so I can't get a good read for those.

I'm killing blades (even graphite ones) right in the sweetspot now because my snapshots and slapshots are much improved.

Centers broke more blades than other players because of the faceoffs.

I found the majority of sticks and blades I broke came from playing defense. Constant hacking, corner work and slashes really add up, and since I have a "heavy" shot, I tend to break a fair bit on slapshot. I can't give a good read on how many I break. Depends on the level I am playing, the times I'm on the ice and the sticks I'm using. I was around a blade a week for a while, this year I used about 8 sticks. All OPS, but I cut my playing time down and the calibre significantly.

Actually, both times my sticks snapped on face-offs if was just above where the taper starts. These were both "fore-hand" face-offs to the left of my goalie (I'm a righty) that I was trying to win it back to the corner. I'm not saying you are wrong, but my bad experiences at the dots have both involved the shafts of my sticks.

Regarding the issue of how so many of my sticks get broken: I guess it is just the nature of the game, especially in more competitive, higher skill-level leagues. I mean, there are countless high speed collisions throughout the course of one game; that has to take a large toll on the sticks, whether they are being illegally used or not. There is all the slashing, hooking, cross-checking, holding, twisting, shots, shot deflections and sticks being stepped/fallen on. Unfortunatly, there are MANY ways to break hockey sticks.
