OPS Sticks

Recommended Posts

I finally gave in. I bought a OPS stick yesterday. I've been a staunch supporter of the Sherwood Coffey curve wood sticks and other older Easton Kevlar sticks due to the curves that I preferred. Well, I think I've found a curve I like in the OPS, and its the TPS Afinogenov blade style. It is similar to the previous Messier/Coffey/Bourque style I preferred.

Anyone else have this preference?

Also, I've had my Nike and CCM gloves for nearly 10 years. Any idea as to a good set set of gloves? I'm not looking to pay $150-200 for gloves while playing in a Rec & Beer league. I'm 34 years old, I'm looking for for practicality and comfort with some durability.

For gloves or any piece of equipment go and try it on for yourself. We all have our opinions but its yours that matters for your equipment. If you find something but you're not sure then ask the guys and they'll be able to help best.

I'd like to start with some ideas and go from there. I'm not sure I want to spend 8 hours in 2-3 LHSs looking at gloves and comparing.

Has anyone used the TPS X-Lite gloves? I do like the TPS brand when it comes to gloves so far.

The hockeygiant x-lite gloves are SMU and not worth getting imho.

I used to play with a guy who bought those x-lites. Within a couple weeks they fell apart and I hooked him up with a member here who was selling some HGTs. He's much happier now.

I dont want my gloves to fall apart..That is for sure. Not a whole lot of 15" gloves left on clearance these days. I noticed the TPS X-Lite gloves on HockeyGiant.com as well.. I usually get my gear at a LHS though, unless I know what I want and all the LHS's in the area are out of my size and so on. I only paid $105 for my RBK 7k Sickick shaft and blade tonight..So that is pretty comparable to what I'd find online, plus the guy cut it down an extra inch for me at no charge along with installing the blade.

TPS HGTs are my vote for best bang for the buck, if you can find them. There are a couple pair of black 14" on ebay right now (not mine). Great gloves.

I pretty much have to wear size 15" gloves. Sure, a 14" would fit my hand reasonably well, but it wouldnt extend very far up my forearm.

Search ebay stores if you're interested, I think there is one that has several pairs of 15" pro return HGTs. I can't remember if they were priced well or not, though.

I'm looking forward to using the new sticks. The older wooden ones tended to get a little heavy as the night went on. I basically got my right shoulder/chest area blown up 5 years ago and after time, whats left of it gets fairly fatigued and sore from carrying a stick or passing/shooting for a couple hours. I couldnt even open a door with my right hand for a year or so, now I'm back skating. Amazing how resilient the human body is.

Thanks for the heads up.. I will go take a look

Look into NBH Vapor XX, great gloves, Eagle X70(i), TPS R8, Supreme One90, MIA MB22... These are all great gloves, depending on what fits you the best and what you prefer the choice is yours. You can't really go wrong with any of these, look up some reviews here on the forum. Good Luck.

Does anyone have an opinion on DR branded equipment? They seem to be reasonably priced as well.

DR had a nice, inexpensive, traditional-looking 4 or 5 roll glove that I really liked when I tried them on. Haven't seen any for a while, though. I think Chadd had a pair.
