BobMcRobertson 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Okay, so I am in need of a pair of skates as my RBK's are falling apart. I have tried on both the S11 and Synergy 800C, and both fit like a glove out of the box. According to what I have read, both have a lot of the same features. The 800C is on sale just about everywhere for less than 200 bucks, even the local skate shops. The S11 is quite a bit more. Is the 800C a deal at this price? Are they an older model? Or should I hold out and stash some cash for a couple of months and get the S11? I did a search but this question is specific, so please throw your opinions out there. Thanks! kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 The S11 has better materials than the 800c did. More carbon fibre in the boot itself. I think its 75/25 ratio of Carbon to Fibreglass in the S11 (the S15 is 85/15 I believe). The 800c was majorly fibreglass. Many people also had problems with the skate just falling apart after a few months. Go for the S11.

kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Yea, I knew a few unhappy people. If you can find a pair of 1200c or 1500c on closeout that fit you, snag those. Great skates, I still have my 1500c and they are still in good shape after skating 6-7 times a week for a year. You can have the 1500c on closeout for even cheaper than the s11 (1500c was the top end model) or the 1200c (right below the 1500c) for even cheaper. Look at the links for the closeouts on the 1500c and the 1200c. The main difference is the CF to fiberglass ratio (how stiff you want them) 1500c is 85/15 and the 1200c is 75/25.http://www.hockeymonkey.com/easton-hssynergy1500csr.htmlhttp://www.hockeymonkey.com/easton-hssynergy1200csr.html

No 8.5 available though. I will keep searching the net to see what kind of deal I can find. Thanks!

Bryan Czajka 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 I would recommend the S11s over the 800Cs any day. I work in a pro shop and every pair of 800 Cs that are brought in for a sharpening are in awful shape. A teammate of mine had a pair last year and they fell apart within a month. The tendon guards broke and started to rip off, the material on the toe caps came off, the carbon fiber/fiber glass cracked in a few spots. We ended up getting him a warranty replacement pair and those fell apart. From all that I have seen they are definitely not a skate built to last. I have sold a few pair of S11 s and from what I have heard and seen they are much more durable skate.
Hockeydog 8 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 I had 2 pairs of 800c skates. The shape of the toecap did a number on my toe. Using S7's now, like them much better.
cj190 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 If I used an 8.5 skate, I'd grab the Bauer S9s in the sell section. But then again, my feet fit Bauers, not eastons.

duch 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2008 Can't go wrong with those 1200C's. I wouldn't have recommended the 800C's after hearing some of the horror stories associated with them. Always go higher end when it comes to the newer Easton skates.
xaero604 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2008 Um, I think you guys are incorrect about there being carbon fiber in either the 800c or s11. Both skates only have a fibreglass shell. The ratio is the amount of fibre glass to the amount of traditional materials (glue, nylon, plastic, etc). Only the 1200c, 1300c, 1500c, and S15 have carbon fibre shells.my 800c's are holding up well and I've had them for over half a year now. Granted I only skate about 2 times a week. Durability, I think, has a lot do with how you maintain them...air out your equipment guys!i'm guessing the s11 is a better designed skate since it should be a step forward like the s15.
