TPS Frolov R4 Redlite OPS

Recommended Posts

Since the LHS around here do not carry TPS sticks I bought one online as I was hot to try the Frolov curve. It is supposed to be a 5 lie but it seems higher.

On the shaft it has the nameplate which reads, "Frolov Pro Stock #024". But then farther down the shaft it does have the consumer stick verbage about the 30 day warranty, etc. I don't know if this is a valid way to compare lies, but I held both the Frolov and a Montreal Euro woodie ( I know it's a 5 lie) in my hand with the bottom of the blades flush and the Frolov shaft was more upright.

Could this Frolov be a different spec than other Frolov blades?

Won´t really help you but I had TPS Pro-Stock sticks that were not specifically marked pro stock on the shaft and had the 30-day warranty print on, too. I had others that were marked PS and did not have the 30-day.

all TPS sticks. pro stock or not have the "Pro Stock" verbage on them. Frolov #024 suggests to me its retail, as does the fact its an R4.

I hae 2 Frolovs in R6 both of which i consider a 5, but thats my opinion

I'm with Buzz on this one....both of my R6 Frolov's are the exact same way.

Well maybe it's just the the open toe that makes it look like a higher lie!

I used it last night and did like it so I'll go with the more knowledgeable advice youse guys have posted. I want to get another one so I am just making sure it will fit the bill since I have to buy them online. Tape wear was not in the middle but it wasn't too far back on the heel either. Thanks for the posts, sticks are the equipment I know the least about !

Yeah that pro stock thing, its a bit confusing at first, isn't it? Being a TPS lover, I don't mind what the company does as long as it makes high quality equipment(which is questionable this season..) but it sure has confused a lot of new TPS users.

but think of it this way..if it's really a pro stock, would they even bother to put a label saying "this is pro stock" on them?

and to comment on the lie, the "lie scale" differs from company to company(e.g. 5 in the Easton scale doesn't equal 5 in NBH), so it's not an absolute index at all.

and that's why there's a "what lie in (company name) equals this lie in(company name)?" kind of thread here every week.. :P
