Bruises from a blocked shot

Recommended Posts

I blocked a shot about a week ago, been playing with it, it isn't very painful, but tonight at a pickup hockey game a fellow player whom is a kickboxer noticed it and said, i should be careful with blood clotting....I'm not aware of this...anyone have an experience with bloodclooting, and do you think I should make the trip to the doctor? bruise is a bit worse now then in pic..

Aww, c'mon Mack...

It's still hockey related.

Yes it can be a major issue, particularly if it's getting worse.

I do agree to check webMD or get more info from your friend.

The best thing you can do is, GO SEE A PROFESSIONAL!!!!!

BTW... there's not a lot of padding on the back of the leg, in the future, block with the FRONT thigh pads or shins. :D

I don't care what it's related to, why would someone come here to get help? Someone should invent a place of business that is made up of professionals trained in medicine. I think that's a stellar idea, I'm going to look about making one of those.

Yes, blood clots are serious and exactly why you shouldn't be wasting time questioning them here.

That, kids, is the reason why you face the shooter..

100% right!! Be particularly worried if it has been getting worse, is quite serious. That's a fairly nasty bruise, but I bet it was worse a few days ago. Basically, the main concern is if the area is deprived of blood flow...

Actually kids, I was facing shooter, got me in the inside of my thigh.

keep those legs closed and cover those nuts!

As for blood clotting i spoke to some old dude at work, he said if the bruise getting wider, thats a good sign, as the blood is travelling and spreading out, if its a small spot, and gets really dark, thats when you should worry!!

Class it out kids!

hope the old dude was a doctor, more blood can also means more tissue damage, more chance of compartmenting and more chance of calcification

This all makes me think, there must be a thread on "hockey battle scars" here somewhere. I search but couldn't find one. Anyone know? (I can't believe I am even asking this. I need a life).

Take a baby aspirin once a day to avoid blood clots...thins out the blood just enough. I had to take them before and after my ACL surgery because my leg was going to be immobile for a week straight and clots could have formed.
