Roseau is deffinetly the favorite in AA. They haven't lost a game this season and are up 5-0 in the 2nd of there first game. Defendng state champs too.

Yeah, they tipically have very strong teams don't they?

They have been strong since the days of Neil & Aaron Broten. Warroad is good this year, but not as strong as in years past. I think St Thomas Academy wins Class A this year. Roseau is throttling pretty tough Blaine team, but I think Edina can play with them. We will see I guess

I like St Thomas too. I don't think Warroad has much for them. I think Roseau will have a pretty easy time repeating. Mike Lee has never lost a game as the starting goalie. This year he is 27-0 with 12 shutouts. A .951 save percentage and .85 GAA. Even if anyone can play with them, good luck getting it past Lee.

Guess I am a little biased. I like the little northern city playing with the big boys. Hope they can pull it off again.

The Rams are so deep, its unbelievable. Their #2 D-man would probably be the #1 D-man on about 125-130 other schools in Minny, maybe more (there's 144 total schools with hockey teams for those of you that aren't familiar). And he's only a junior. So far, they have 3 D-1 commits but it really is hard to guess how many more will make it in the next 3-5 years off this team. They could have anywhere from 3-6 more. They have a couple of seniors that will be playing in the USHL next year and are talented enough to play D-1, just a little undersized for the "preferred" size. They also have a player that I thought might go the juniors route to play D-1 hockey but it sounds like he's getting an athletic scholly for other sport(s) at the DII level (he's quite an athlete). I went to the tourney last year but am not able to make it this year. Thank God for the internet or I'd have no coverage.

Ness is a bit small himself, but Phil Housley wasnt a big guy either. Ray Bourque at 5-10 wasnt a giant, but it helped that he was 215lbs. As for Roseau, how do they compare with the '93 Jags? ;)

Didn't the '93 Jags have something like 10-11 D1 commits and 4-5 NHL'ers? I hate to get ahead of myself because the Rams haven't won it again, yet as HM, BSM and Edina are all great teams and if the Rams aren't at their best, can be beat. Tell you what, I'll tell you what I think after the tourney. :P

I just spoke with my friend in St Paul and if the Rams win tonight, the wife and I will be heading up to the Cities for the finals. Gotta make sure my Roseau gear is clean!

Warroad just lost. I couldn't watch the game but saw they did outshoot Marshall. What did the game look like? Did Warroad out play them, but Marshalls goalie held them in?

I didnt get a chance to see the Warroad game today, but Duluth Marshall has been pretty tough the last few years. I see STA just scored twice in under a minute. They are fun to watch and a great with the puck offensively. The Gophers are getting a good one in Walters.

And they are getting Ness too. Looks like my Sioux are going to have some great competition from the gophers again the next couple years.

Oh what I wouldn't do to play in this league...

Did you get a chance to watch one of the games?

Mike Crowley and the guys may still be the best team ever regardless. Ben Clymer, Trebil, Lafleur, Parrish etc...

No, I've just been reading a lot about the league. And it is so cool to see teams with matching gloves, helmets and pants, it looks so good. Around here no one would be willing to pay extra to have all matching stuff.

I know what you mean, that's why I don't want to put the cart before the horse but just think if Ness goes first round (in the draft) this year, as currently projected, Landman, Nelson and maybe Moser go later in the draft (Landman may be a junior, school wise but he turns 18 this spring like Ness). Then, next year you have Lee and Oliver that may go in the first or second rounds and also Weston later in the draft (Weston is an excellent D and will be able to come out of Ness's shadow next year). Looking down at their Sophomore class, there's Knockenmuss and Erickson that look very promising. Out of all of these kids, there's a better than average chance that at least 3 make it to the show, and possibly a couple more (I know, its a long way from high school hockey but still, the talent is there).

I just watched some really good highlights on myfoxhockey.com. They have highlights from all the games this year. I watched Edina and Burnsville, the game that went to double OT and Edina won to get in state. It is really good hockey, it's fast and really smart hockey. Not sure if they're all like this, but I found this game wasn't very phisical. Gleason on Edina is one heck of a defensemen!

Burnsville vs Edina probably isnt ever going to be a physical matchup since it is not the style of either team. Warroad, Elk River, Blaine and so on are rather physical teams.

Yes he's good but according to the "experts" he's not even the best D on his team. Jake Gardiner is supposed to be the man for Edina.

Gardiner plays for Minnetonka, not Edina.

I hate to start the debate here, but who do you root for? Private schools or Public? or do you not care?

Also, Northern vs. Metro school.

I'll cheer for Northern and Private schools, cause I went to one and I'm sick of hearing about how the private schools all recruit and are all rich kids (they're not), when public schools are the same or worse (Edina anyone?).

I really dont care. Most of the upper tier AA public schools get their fair share of transfers and many of them are in affluent suburbs. That being said, Holy Angels has used the Jefferson youth program to their advantage.
