epstud74 24 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 Edina wins 5-4 in OT. Great game between two stellar programs. Everson with the game winner in front of the net.

epstud74 24 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 Hill-Murray up 2-0 in 1st period over Roseau
epstud74 24 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 Hill-Murray up 3-0. They could easily be up 4-0 and the Roseau goalie has stoned Hill-Murray twice on short-handed breakway chances. Lee is keeping Roseau in the game in the 2nd. Roseau cannot seem to finish their chances offensively.Edina isnt just Gleason, but guys like Anders Lee and Zach Budish are highly touted as well. You're right, my bad. Too bad BSM knocked them out. It would've been fun to see him playing at the X.
tjl_48 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 I didn't get to watch the HM vs. rams game. How was it? Wow did not see this coming.I did see the Edina BSM game. That was an awesome game.
epstud74 24 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 Hill-Murray is well coached and dictated the pace of the game from the outset. Roseau has some very fast players but HM was physical and won the battles and races for the puck tonite. HM's goaltender was stellar as well and HM added a couple late goals to win 6-2. I'm not sure if Roseau played well as a team down the stretch and Ness was clearly frustrated at times. Ness will need to shore up his defense a bit at the next level and get a bit stronger. He is an excellent skater though and will be playing with teamates posessing better vision and skills.

epstud74 24 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 Looks as if they're all wearing Torspo gloves. JR pointed it out in another thread.
Abbieshockey20 1 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 So is Roseau done now? Is the tournament one loss and your done or will they now have tougher competition because they lost? Also, do these players have to buy all there own gear, but they just get gloves, pants and helmets?

badsk8ter 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 Wow! So I guess the question about the '93 Jags vs the '08 Rams was answered. Roseau plays in the consolation game today against Benilde.
epstud74 24 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 Wow! So I guess the question about the '93 Jags vs the '08 Rams was answered. Roseau plays in the consolation game today against Benilde.Anything can happen in the state tourney, but Hill-Murray isnt a cinderella team. They beat St. Thomas Academy (Class A Champs) earlier in the year, and have a pretty impressive team. They come off as very well coached and they had an excellent game plan against Roseau last night. There are a lot of good teams at the AA level this year in MN.
epstud74 24 Report post Posted March 9, 2008 Hill-Murray wins the AA crown over Edina. Great defense and goaltending wins championships. Maybe Don Lucia will take notice and recruit 6-3 210lb defensemen rather than just 5-9 175lb playmakers who cant clear a crease. Anyone know where Sova intends to play at next year?? psh 25 Report post Posted March 10, 2008 I'm glad HM won the tournament, but the way they approached the Rams game was very discouraging. They gooned it up pretty bad. It reminded me a lot of the Ducks approach to the playoffs last year--lots of marginal play. The cross check to Ness's back after the buzzer at the end of the first period was the clincher. HM was clearly trying to intimidate the Rams, with cheap shots and clean hits. I thought the Rams would come out hard and give it back to HM after the first, but they didn't. They folded in the face of that thuggery. So HM's strategy worked. The sad thing is, seeing how they played Edina, HM could have beat the Rams with clean, skilled play, too. Like I said, I'm glad they won the tournament, but think the way they played the Rams diminishes the win. How good was Hill Murray's goaltender. Wow! What composure. epstud74 24 Report post Posted March 10, 2008 Other than the late hit at the end of the 1st period, HM played Roseau the same way they played Edina. A clean physical battle which left Roseau frustrated because HM didnt allow them to gain the zone easily or get many quality shots on net. They remind me of Lemaire's NJ Devils teams in how well-coached they are and their oppotunistic nature. This game was a prime example why you dont see a lot of fancy one-on-one moves or stickhandling in he NHL. If you hold onto the puck too long you either lose the puck or get knocked off the puck. Something we see too much of at the HS or college level. Smaller teams woud be more effective with quick crisp passes rather than fancy moves and dekes.
