Syven Roller Hockey?

Recommended Posts

I may just be ignorant of the obvious, but what ever happened to Syven? They had some really good pants on the market and some decent skates, but it seems like they just slipped off the face of the earth.

Just curious as to what happened to them and if its possible to still find some skates made by them...

Syven came out after Nexed though, and shortly thereafter Nexed went under.

Todd Trickle is the guy, and he has never had a sustained line of anything. He does a one shot for whoever that is almost always real good stuff and moves on. He did the original Gear, Chandler, Nexed and Syven, but he's been pretty quiet lately.

Hm, that's kind of disapointing. I was wondering what happened to them...

I'm assuming it was the same deal with Gear hockey, too?

Gear died off for several years, then Hockeygiant bought the naming rights and started selling "Gear" product again, but it's not the same.

Trickle, good designer...not the best businessman

started GEAR/CHANDLER - good stuff..but looked so much like Mission/Bilt-Rite it was a crime, they even sponsored the Mudcats at one point in the early go around if memory serves..and some other teams in the PA region (Scorchers)

after they went up, he came back with Nexed, which eventually became a wholly owned subsidary of those industry faves, V-Form,

post-V-Form he did the pants for CCM (they looked a LOT like Nexed pants) and then Syven..

they got out of hockey, tried paintball for a stint and then quit it altogether. They kept the same model lineup for almost 4 yrs, and people are always wanting the latest and greatest.
