one peice sticks overated?

Recommended Posts

well I just bought a easton synergy 200(95 flex, sakic). I was previously using a Easton z-bubble shaft(100 flex) and a easton ultra-lite blade. anyways long story short, I've always had a good hard slapshot, ussually the best on the team. went to go try this new synergy, and my slapshot is complete crap, I kept trying and trying, then switched back to my z-bubble and everything was good. I did notice the synergy improved my wrist shot, but slapshot with it sucked.

now , does anyone else have this issue, or is it just me??? I also noticed my z-bubble had a wooden end handle, while the synergy doesnt have one(its a perfect length). should I cut the stick down a bit and add a wood handle to it?? maybe it will help make the stick more solid, no vibrations?? im really dissapointed with this one peice stick, its my first one. I think I will try finding another z-bubble for my back up.

the zbubble you were using is made from a better quailty material. the bubble is a higher end shaft where the syn 200 is a low end ops. unfortunatly, the synergy, wont have the same pop as the bubble with a blade. if you want a one piece that will shoot better you will need to go aittle higher end than the 200. also, depending on what blade you use in the bubble, its more than likely to come off harder tahn what the 200 does.

In Easton, a Synergy ST or SE. Why not just stick with the shaft/blade combo? If you want the newest version of it, get a Synergy 2 shaft and Synergy 2 blade in either wood, hybrid or composite.

is the synergy 2 the new z-bubble? same design?, same taper near the blade?

Instead of tapering and then going back to a normal diameter, It tapers all the way to the blade. The blade is a smaller diameter.

correct me if i am wrong..

no more syn 2.. its the Se shaft that is tapered... and the new zbubble is the s15 or s17 shaft... personally i think but because of the science behind it.. the s17 stick would perform like the zbubble combo..

That is wrong. It's not the shop's fault that you are experiencing buyer's remorse.

Yeah I noticed that too.... Your gonna return a used stick to your lhs and pass it off as never used.

It's your own fault, it's not like they claimed a low-end OPS would surpass a high-end shaft blade combo...

I hope they call your bluff and give you a mouthfull.

relax boys, not all of us are rich or sponsored. THe store Im returning to is a big company, not your small family run type store. I used for like 20 mins, im gonna excahnge for another z-bubble. I'll stick with what I've used. now to find another yzerman meathook. I heard they discountinued it.

Just because it's not a mom and pop shop doesn't make it right. Also, could it be that only 20 minutes wasn't a long enough time for you to fully get a feel for the stick. If you plan on taking the stick back, and I'm sure you are regardless of what we suggest, let them know that you did only use it for a short time and see what they say. It's their decision whether or not to accept a return on a used piece of gear.

This is why I am glad the vendors are putting the serial number stickers on OPS. Once the sticker is attached to the receipt, the stick is yours. I know there is no sticker on the 200 but going forward this system has worked.

Lol, I have both Synergy 200 (it's my 6th backup) and 3 Z-Bubbles (2 clear 1 grip). The Bubble of course is tons better than any cheap OPS. If you want something comparable to the Bubble, the best thing is to get another Bubble. OPS design won't make you a better player, or make you shoot better. Sure, if you chose the wrong flex or blade pattern or if you basically dislike a stick, then it will hinder your abilities a little, but if you find something that suits you, why change it?

NJD, if you return a used stick to a store, while playing it off like it was unused, that makes you a DOUCHE of the highest caliber. It doesn't matter what store it was, or how long you used it.

I hope they take that stick and sodomize you with it.

... ok, that was a bit harsh. I hope they just don't take it back.

fuk me...so I pretty much just blew $60....damn

What did you expect for $60.00 when all of the other sticks were like $160.00. You went cheap - you got cheap, now you want the shop were you bought it from to have to take the loss

For sure. I hate when "That Guy" comes in. Always think we (the store) owe him something because he "Spends a lot of his money in here."

Why is he a douche for returning the stick if its perfect condition/undamaged? He doesn't even have to hide the fact he tried it, not suitable-wants to upgrade. Unless you guys feel the eventual owner is getting cheated I'm not following who would be hurt by his exchanging the stick?

edit-I now see the playing it off as unused. Yep, he should tell manager he tried it, please really look it over to ensure its in new condition.

Even though the stick might be in perfect condition, the fact of the matter is, the stick was used. It is one of, if not THE, cheapest OPS out there, and obviously not using quality materials. After taking a few shots with it, there are probably a few cracks on the inside that you wouldn't be able to see. It makes it shitty for the next guy who buys it, and breaks it on shot number 3 or 4 because it was already cracked. Plus, those have no warranty to begin with, if I remember correctly.

For this thread, let's say the shop takes back the used OPS. What happens next is simple: the OP is in the locker room telling his buddies he used this OPS for 20 minutes, didn't like it, returned it for another. Hey, that sounds great to all his buddies. Now they want to buy a OPS, use it for 20 minutes, decide they don't like it and return it. Shop guy says, "sorry, no returns." "But you did it for my buddy!" So, now the shop guy has a huge problem because he changes his store policy for the OP. The next step is as WT19 says, a bunch of semi-used OPS in shop inventory. Would you want to buy a semi-used OPS?
