Easton S15 Skates

Recommended Posts

i bore witness to a horrific on-ice incident two nights ago...

buddy of mine took a really hard clapper from the point right into the toe of the defenceman's S15s....

absolutely SHATTERED the the toe of the skate into at least 5 pieces, and the impact carried into the rest of the boot, leaving a crack in the midfoot of the boot.

two broken toes on the d-man, and a HUGE warranty issue with Easton pending...

someone tell me if i'm wrong, but i was under the impression that a toecap exploding like that was only limited to plastic, not carbon fiber :S

my guess is that something definitely went awry in the manufacturing process.

Most of Easton's problems would be solved if they would just put a plastic toecap on top of the composite one. What little weight it'll add will be well worth the extra durability.

Can anyone speak to the durability of the S7's? Sounds like the S15 and S11 have durability issues, but I am wondering about the S7 since I really like the fit of Eastons.

The s3 and s7 use the normal plastic toe caps like every other skate. They are supposedly said that top of the traditional synergy's. Have a teammate who has a pair and they weren't really heavy nor light. They are exceptional skate at a good price imo. The stiffness to me felt like a mid range skate not too stiff or too soft when I was looking at the skate and looking at my mates pair and playign around with it.

This is an example where doing too much to lighten a skate can go wrong. I have a few teammates who bought s15 skates and I watched them fall apart. They would come up to me and say,"hey look at this. Can you fix this?" I'd just laugh. I have seen posts where guys say they have no durability issues. Must have gotten a super skate, or only skate once a month.

Must have gotten a good skate, then. Easton sent a kid here in Calgary a pair of European built S15's before he went to Chilliwack Bruins camp last fall. They didn't last a month. He went through 4 more pair during a Midget AAA season. I have seen a 100 pound AAA midget girl have a pair fall apart as well.

Maybe just first year problems.

I didn't know that Easton had a european plant?

I saw them when I stopped by my buddy's store. The box was just plain white and the skate had some different colours on it. Said "European Skate" or something on it. Was obviously a custom. Solid steel.
