Good LHS around Madison, WI

Recommended Posts

Suter's was always good when I needed a place in Madison, but that was many years ago. Worth checking out, though.

Is that Gold Medal Sports? Or Suter's Gold Medal Sports to be exact? I know Mike Ramsey has a Gold Medal Sports down the road from me as well. I wonder if they share the name under some sort of agreement?

Yes, it's Suter's Gold Medal Sports. I don't know if they're affiliated - I would imagine that everyone who was on that team has a business named "_____'s Gold Medal _____"

Great info on this forum about profiling skates. I just moved to Madison, WI. Anybody have info on a good Pro shop that can work on skates?

Thanks.

That's a nice city to move too, my wife is from there.

You may want to try Middleton Cycle & Fitness in Middleton. I've been in there a few times it seems like a pretty good place.

Cycle and Fitness had a good selection when i was there (once). The PIAS south of the belt line gets occasional skates left over from the team, but most of the employees dont know if theyre shitting or stealing second base when it comes to hockey equipment

I'll put my vote in for Cycle and Fitness as well. I've been there a few times, no major purchases but the staff seems knowledgeable and they always have a good selection, much larger than what shops have over here in La Crosse.

I can vouch strongly for Middleton Cycle & Fitness; been a customer there for 8+ years. Bought Vapor XXXX's from them recently, had them profiled and later, punched out to minimize the toe grind i was experiencing. Seek out the older (50-ish) guy (can't remember his name) for work on skates...
