Toes a little scrunched!

Recommended Posts

I tried on a pair of Graf Ultra G5's in 7 Regular and my toes were pushing the front end a little. My toes arched just a little bit. They did not have size 7.5 to try. I am wondering if I should just get the 7's since they won't get any 7.5 in awhile.

When I stood up, it didn't really feel painful, but it felt a little awkward. I'm just wondering if I will feel discomfort If I should skate in them. Will baking them help a little? I think size 7.25 would be perfect if it existed. What should I do? Thanks!

I'm not too sure to be honest. These will be my first pair of high end skates. I wear size 9.5 in nike shoes. I'd rather the smaller size if skating isn't too painful. Has anyone skated in skates too small? How did that turn out?

I bought vapor xxx's in 8.5 instead of 9's and I stretched them and It worked out length wise. I don't like the skates for other reasons though.

Just so you know, my foot moved back very little once I broke in my Ultra G3's. In my old Bauers, my foot backed up 1/4 size easily after break-in.

I had very thin socks and superfeet in them when i tried them on :P. So there is no room to give. My toes will be a little scrunched for sure, but Im just wondering if its okay to play like that or i will likely feel pain

haha well i just thought i would check, you just never know :)

when you bend your knees, do your toes still touch the cap? if they do, then you might be uncomfortable on the ice. i know for me personally, if i dont skate hard enough during game, my toes hurt cause they are against the toe cap when i stand straight legged.

thats an easy test for you to do, maybe youre lucky enough to have another lhs in the area with a 7.5 if those 7's dont work out for you,or else that power stretch will get you that half size you need

This is very hard to decide for anyone else than yourself. Many players like to have their toes clearly touching the toecap and many players don´t.

I have tried both and I experienced some problems with my toenails and of course taking shots at the toebox = blue toes.

PP as they say!

Jat,

I wear size 9 (USA) Nike running shoes and wear a size 7 Graf G3, fit is perfect. My feet touch my toe cap, not barely - but not scrunched either. You may want to hold out.

Im not allowed to try them out, or else they would be deemed used and not returnable. I would have definitely gone this route :P. I may have to just get them stretched if all else fails.

DO you guys think a 7R and a 7W will fit differently length wise?

I tried the G35 as well in size 7W, and this might sound crazy, but they fit a bit larger than the g5's size 7R. My toes were not scrunched in the g35's!

If you're dropping money on a new pair of Grafs why not wait until they get the 7.5s or buy from elsewhere. If you're going to spend the money why not wait and get the right product.

Yeah I am going to wait it out after thinking about it some more. I am going to wait for a 7.5. could be a few months away though but my current skates will do.

Seen wider skates a touch longer myself, different last can be a bit longer. Sometimes a pair of 7R's from any manufacturer could be a 'touch' longer from different set of lasts too. My buddy imported Dr Marten's as they became popular in early 90's...great quality control but he showed me once the slight dif on a shipment of size 6's, he measured out 1/2 his inventory as size 6 1/8. Came up as a girl wanted to try 6 1/2...this guy would have been great in a LHS.

He also told me people on their feet all day should come in then for a good shou fit-a nurse etc will have her feet swell a little. Never read that here from the skate fitters-make sense?

I agree with him. If they are just brushing the caps, once you bend your knees they will pull back and fit perfectly. I have 11.5 adidas with 9.5D NBH Vapors and they fit like that. I had used 10.0's and 10.5's before in Vapors and the 9.5's feel a lot better without ankle pinching etc. I hope this helps.
