Aussie Joe 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 Sportsplex in Feasterville, PA.
flyguy1697 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 I pass the Sportsplex every morning on my way to school. The best shop that is around has to be Del Val Hockey Supply in Bristol. I don't know which way he is getting there but I could give directions if you need them. If he wants to go out of his way there is a decent shop in Philly called Nicoletti Hockey Supply and they are pretty good but Del Val is very knowledgeable. If he goes there tell him to ask for Mark or Keith. Best guys around.
troy 12 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 I second Del Val Bristol, that's their flagship store, very nice selection and knowledgeable staff. I've only been there a few times as it's about 40 minutes away from me, but if you're going to be in Sportsplex territory, that's definitely the shop to hit up. VECHKIN08 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 I play at sportsplex.....pretty good facility. They actually got flooded out a few weeks ago, but everything is ok now. And you can tell they're prepping for the tourny. New bright lights, the rinks are clean, and the small pro-shop is always open and stocked. But I would definitely have to third on the call to Del-Val...awesome place. Sometimes there selection isn't the best, depending on what your looking for, but a great shop. Friendly and knowledgeable guys and they'll make you laugh. Also, if you have a chance there is a Flyers Skate Zone off of the Roosevelt Boulevard, there pro-shop is pretty nice. The kids that work there are ok but they have a great selection of sticks and protective stuff....roller skates, not so much.
EBondo 233 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 Skate Zone isn't that nice, especially the one in Northeast Philly. The only Skate Zone I would suggest is the one in Voorhees, where the Flyers practice. I've been pretty unimpressed with all the other shops.
twister18 1 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 I would 2nd...or 3rd..or 4th..or whatever # we're up to right now for Del Val in Bristol...there's a decent pro shop in Hollydell Ice Rink across the river in jersey, too, but that's probably out of range for him
Miserable 6 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 Is Del Val that good?Called them about a pair of 8090's a while back the guy in Bristal said that they were at the Warwick store and that he would put them aside for me. Told me they were open and to head over. I drove all the way up there from Aston to find out that the store was closed. I told the guy I was coming from over an hour away to. Called the Warwick store the next day and the guy there said that he didn't hear anything on the 8090's and that they didn't have any to begin with.

However it is a drive like you said, and we don't offer much of a selection of goalie equipmet aside from sticks. More of a player store.
BackinAction 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 Miserable - there must have been a miscommunication because I have had nothing positive experiences with Del Val Hockey in Bristol. Highly recommended. My son plays in the in-house league at Sportsplex - great facility. The Pro Shop is under relatively new ownership and has been really gearing up over the past few weeks. Miserable 6 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 That was my first and only dealing with them so can't really bad mouth them, just thought I'd throw that out there. Seems like a lot of people like them so maybe I was just unlucky.
flyguy1697 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 The Del Val at Warwick is very inconsistent. Bristol store is great. I am not saying that they do not make mistakes but if they tell you something they are pretty knowledgeable and will not steer you the wrong way. I know both of the guys who work there personally and they are the only two guys whom I let touch my skates. I know a few kids from the area that play (ed) D1 hockey and they would rotate 4 sets of steel sending them back and forth to these guys because the wouldn't let anyone else sharpen their skates. A bit out of the way but an equally as good shop is Hockey Heaven in Colmar (right near Hatfield Ice Arena). I buy all of my skates and gloves from this shop because I am good friends with the owner. Hockey Heaven is this mans lively hood and he treats it that way. He takes great care in personal assistance. I would suggest either Hockey Heaven or Del Val to anyone coming to the area. Both very knowledgeable shops and will take care of you.

Remman 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 I used to live 5 min from the Sportsplex. The Warwick Del Val shop is small, not a ton of gear to choose from, but it is the closest to the Sportsplex. The guy who runs it, Jeff, is very knowledgeable. He's the only one I would let touch my skates. The hours there were a bit sketchy sometimes though. And two minutes up the road from Warwick is Face Off Circle. I think they re-did their pro shop recently, but hadn't been in there before I moved. Hockey Heaven is worth the trip if he has time. The only problem I ever saw with that store was that they were the biggest store in that area, and seemed to run out of things quickly. And if he is looking up more places in that area, don't waste time going to Wintersport. Pro shop is tiny, with I believe no goalie equipment. Hockey Heaven # 215-997-6396. (This is the number for the one on Bethlehem Pike. There is another Hockey Heaven in Hatfield Ice around the corner, which is a small pro shop.)Face Off Circle # 215-674-2770Del Val, Bristol # 215-788-5345Flyers Skate Zone Northeast # 215-618-0050
chilimax21 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 Yes, Del Valley Hockey. If I'm around the area, I'll bring my skates to get sharpened there. Good bunch of guys.
Aussie Joe 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 Thanks Remman, the kid will go nuts when he finds out theres this many shops he can visit. Any have a good selection/knowledgable staff for Goalies?
Remman 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 I have never been to the DelVal hockey in Bristol. Hockey heaven is the biggest shop I have ever been to. Like I said, the Warwick DelVal shop has very little goalie gear, and Face Off Circle I am not sure about. I know the Flyers Skate Zone Northeast has a goalie who works in the pro shop, but I don't know his name. They seem to have a decent amount of gear as well. flyguy1697 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 No doubt the best selection for goalie equipment is Hockey Heaven. Absolutely worth the trip. I would go there over any of the other places. The Skatezone's at Northeast and Faceoff are both poorly run. They have a good stock of players sticks and a decent amount of skates but their goalie equipment is lacking. If your buddy wants to see a good shop then Hockey Heaven is worth the 30 minutes drive up street road to go to hockey heaven.
