Lacrosse Shoulder Pads?

Recommended Posts

I know people do it, but I wouldn't recommend it for full contact hockey. For non-contact beer league/pick-up, lacrosse shouldies are usually protective enough.

All my upper-body protective is lacrosse. Overall, they're MUCH more comfortable than any other hockey shoulder pad, which is probably accredited to the fact that I've already broken them in. But even new LAX pads are way more mobile and much lower profile. I DO use them for full-contact hockey, but I'll admit that they don't have as much coverage as a higher-end hockey pad.

part of the problem with lacrosse shoulder pads is they have a lot of stuff that can be removed from that that hockey pads can't. Which if a player was to remove them it would protect less then a hockey pad will. Being that in a lacrosse game a lot of players to get hit too often and when they get body checked they are falling on grass or turf not hitting hard ice or boards they aren't as protective as ice hockey pads. Like someone said they can be worn for non contact hockey. And for those of you saying what about box lacrosse I'm pretty sure most of them where hockey shoulders under their jerseys.

I use them and love it, like someone said earlier you can change alot, mind you I play girls hockey so I dont need something seroius. But I also played lacrosse which was full contact and had no problems.

But those ones you gave as an example (the gaits are crap) if you want lacrosse ones get a better one than those cuz if you see them up close they are garbage may as well not wear anything.

Why not just wear 5030's or Bauer Classics? Or even SP50's?

I guess at that point, you're just wearing a thick shirt.

So if I were to look into a set of lacrosse shoulders to use in a competitive non-check league (technically non-contact but that can get dicey), does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

nemo i haven't played lacrosse in years and I know they change the rules every season it seems like, but you play girls ice hockey and I'm just going to assume by that statement your a female, and last I checked girls lacrosse was no contact and they only had to wear googles. Unless you were allowed to play mens lacrosse being the whole title 9 deal which in that case I stand corrected.

haha thats quite the good guess, in canada we have box lacrosse thats full contact for girls to play (apparently its "place and push" but those rules are never followed) what your thinking about is field which i have never played but we wear full gear and im pretty sure if i was to play with the boys id be killed!

sorry for any confusion!

Thanks for the info everyone...

I actually made a hybrid set of pads by combining the Nike Bauer classics with old vapor 10 shoulder caps. This combo kept the mobility of the classics intact and definitely added protection as well.
