The marathon game clocked in at 142 minutes, 58 seconds and eclipsed the previous record of 134 minutes, 56 seconds set in Game 2 of the 2003 Calder Cup final between the Hamilton Bulldogs and the Houston Aeros. Michael Ryder scored the winner as the Bulldogs escaped with a 2-1 win in a game where Hamilton netminder Ty Conklin and Houston goaltender Johan Holmqvist combined to make 162 saves. Philadelphia took a 3-2 lead in the first-round Calder Cup series with the win. Albany goaltender Michael Leighton made an incredible 98 saves in a losing effort. Leighton's performance made Scott Munroe's exceptional 65-save effort look pedestrian in comparison. Jared Ross scored twice in regulation for Philadelphia, including the game-tying goal at 15:13 of the third period. Kiel McLeod scored both Albany goals. Personally, I like Fleury more than Conklin; Conklin I felt filled in well as a backup, but started to struggle a bit soon before Fleury returned. I think he started to struggle with the load of the season. I believe in Fleury :P
AndTheySayChiCity 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 The goalie was Johan Holmqvist, who is the backup for Dallas.my bad. i get those two mixed up ALWAYS. i think its the -qvist at the end of their last names. Fleury won.. but he scared me the whole game until PIT came roaring back with the back to back goals (x2).. what were they? first set of goals.. 14 secs apart and the second set of goals less than 30 seconds apart.. insanity. great game! EBondo 233 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 Wonder how the long game will affect them today when they play. I'm going to the game in a super box for free and I'm hoping it's not gonna be slow because they're still getting their legs back.
EBondo 233 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 Just got home from Game 6, and what do you know, it went into OT again! Little over halfway through one of the River Rats scored to end the game 1-0. Great game for the goalies as the shots were around 40 a piece.
