thunderhockey19 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2004 hey guys, i got a problem i have to figure out in a few hours i got tryouts tonight for 2 different teams and i dont know which team to go tryout for. see last night the coach of the first team calls me and asks if i want to come tryout and i tell him maybe ill come out. the thing you have to understand about this first team is that their a average midget aa team. but this other team i want to go tryout for is in a different city and there going to be much better they are also midget aa and i know like one of the kids on the team and he thinks i can make it. but im not sure what team i want to tryout for basically both teams i dont have any friends on. also i played highschool last year and most of my friends are on this team, and they are a pretty bad highschool team. but they want me to come back. the reason i dont want to go back to highschool though is i dont really get playing time because my coach doesnt like me or something. because im clearly the most talented center on the team but he puts me on third line because i was only a freshman. another reason i dont want to go back to highschool is because theres not enough games to travel. im sorry for running on by the way im just trying to let of some steam and im kind of rambling on so basically which team would you tryout for? the 1st team that you would most likely make but their not really good. the 2nd team which is going to be a really good team that i have a hard time of making it. or would you just go back to highschool with your friends?Edit: i know this is probably should be a poll but i forgot to make it one then realized i didnt at the end so just do your best to answer thanks. Speed Demon 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2004 If you like to win, go with a winning team. If you want to have fun, go with your high school team. If you think you are going some where in hockey, go to that good midget team. The main thing is to go somewhere where you're going to have fun (whether it is winning or just the people on the team). I have had this same problem. I decided that I didn't want to play/try out for a Midget AA team because they lose every game 10-0. This means I am going to go play for my Midget A team and have fun with my friends and winning.
Jim Bob 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2004 It all depends what you want to get out of the season. If it's about making yourself a better player, I'd look at the team with the best coaching staff and/or the team that could give you the most ice time.If it's about having fun, then I'd go with the team that would be the most fun for yourself. With the coaching issue, I'm not sure if the HS team is the one that's going to be the most fun or not.Basically, I'd put together a list of the pros and cons of each team.Make another list of what you want out of the season. And then give your lists to some people you trust to shoot straight and get an unbiased look at things. lee92 2 Report post Posted August 17, 2004 i had a similar experience a couple weeks ago on whether i should tryout for our major midget aaa team and probly be 2nd or 3rd line OR go back to high school for my final year and be top line and have a better chance of winning. i decided on highschool for me. but if that better midget teams got a good chance at winning and you have a chance at making it, go for it. if you don't make it, you know you can always fall back on either the other midget team or high school.i say go where you're gonna have the most fun and where you get to play the most. but don't take the easy way out and play in a crap league, becuz unless u play with ppl of your calibre or higher, you won't improve as much

Eazy_b97 1 Report post Posted August 20, 2004 It was helpful if you didn't take it as an attack. There are alot of circumstances that should effect your decisions. It's a scenario that you cannot get a right answer from a board on because you obviously aren't sure of what you want to do. Either choice has a chance to fail, pick what you think will make you happiest. Playing the most hockey possible isn't for everyone. Maybe if you are even considering the offer it means you shouldn't be playing with them, if you really wanted to you would've already made a decision and considered the possibilities. chippa13 1844 Report post Posted August 20, 2004 Not trying to rip you but you've already gotten people's opinions and its time to make your own choice. I'm assuming you're going to be a sophomore so around 14-15 years old. You really need to start asserting yourself and making your own decisions. Otherwise, you'll be led around by the nose for the rest of your life.I was honestly offering some kindly advice.
