One90 outsole?

Recommended Posts

I read some of the older threads on the One90's outsole separation, but didn't see any pics or videos. And now I'm suspecting that this pair I have is starting to give. Would anyone care to take a look at let me know? I don't use much force at all on the holder, but you can see the rubber portion move when I do. Are they toast?

Yeah. Soon It will break apart. You Could Try NB and see if they could help.

My only concern with that, is he switched out his holders... If memory serves me correct, that's frowned upon in Warrantyland.

That exact same thing happened to a teammate of mine, only his totally came off during a shift, pretty funny thing to see!

He got his Warranted without any problems, although he had the stock holder on it.

Take them down down to your LHS and have them take a look at them they should be able to give you a good opinion. Is it just the rubber separating or the actual outsole? Also I would suggest taking a look at the rivets because unless the outsole is just completely trashed good rivets wouldn't allow the holder to move that much.

I was thinking about the rivets too. I wouldn't worry too much about the rubber part separating. The rubber part on my left skate got completely torn away exposing more quarter material.

Thanks for the pointers so far. I'll post more pics in a bit.

As Griff alluded to, the rubber is coming off. And if you pull it back, the outsole does look like it's separating on one skate.

On the other skate, the rubber is still stuck on pretty good so I can't visually confirm. The sounds it makes when I give the holder a bit of a tug is suspect though. Anyone have any experience with Bauer being gracious about swapping holders? It's not like I went to a CCM or Mission holder.

I've read about the other members' one90 issues, so I'm kind of alarmed at how well these would be holding up if I didn't rotate between skates.

What's the best-case scenario? I just need new rivets?

Best case is that it's just the rubber and not the actual outsole that has come loose and your rivets have worn/rusted to the point that you can move the holder, if you take out the insoles you should be able to see if your rivets are toast. Hopefully you can fix this with a few new rivets, however if that's the case look into replacing all of the rivets usually if a few of them are ruined you should probably replace all of them as the rest will probably follow shortly thereafter.

I would actually shit bricks about breaking my ankles if they came off while I was trying to stop or something.

Okay, so looking at the insole, rivets seem okay?

Right skate

Left skate

But then I pull back some of the rubber aesthetic bits and...

?????

that looks like its cracked through. Mine have a little give to them, but i never considered that could be the problem.

Sounds like I'm hooped?

ohh f.... but how long you drive the skates ???

Since last March. On top of having switched holders, I think I'm past any warranty period. Any fixes possible?

You need to dry your skates out better, the rust on those rivets is stupid. They are probably rotten.

I'm going to have to agree with Gretz. I've had my one90s since last january (on ice 3-4 times a week) and the steel rivets are still grey in colour and no rust whatsoever.

And from the last pic it looks like you might be out of luck. Try going to Cyclone and ask for a second opinion.

contact NBH anyways, they still may be able to help you out.

Got a number for them? The non-stick warranty line?
