Faber vs. Pulver

Recommended Posts

For those who follow MMA/WEC this is going to be a huge fight. It's on June 1st on Versus. The real question here is, who do you think is going to win? The kid who has completely dominated everybody except for a minor few, or the legend who has worked like hell to be where he is, but is being forgotten and wants to get his reign back?

After Pulver got beat by Penn....it showed me a more vulnerable side to his MMA that I expected to see. I think that Faber is going to take it.

Either way....the light weight divisions are always the most exciting MMA action to watch. ;)

I think that it's going to be a great fight and no way that it goes 5 rounds. Expect Faber to win unless Pulver can find a way to catch him with his left hand and I just can't see it happening.

Just wantched a "recent" fight with Pulver and Swanson. Jens has really evovled from just his big left and is adapting to new styles. Made Cub tapout in 35 seconds. Probably didn't even land one punch the whole fight.

Pulver ALWAYS has a striker's chance in this one, Faber is a dynamo though. The thing is, how much bigger and potentially stronger is BJ Penn than Faber? How much more flexible to get Pulver's arm locked down and secure the rear naked to win?

I don't think losing to Penn should be an indicator of a "vulnerability", nor should putting Cub in his place be an indicator of "evolution". Penn is just that friggin good, and Swanson still needs some time to get himself to top level. Pulver is undefeated as a featherweight, I hope it's a good one.

For anyone who watched it, that was seriously insane. All five round with Urijah and Jens going back and forth. I'm surprised Pulver took all those hits from Faber and was still ready to fight.

I was, however, more surprised by Miguel Torres defending his belt against Yoshiro Maeda. Good God was that a fight.

Pulver just never had a true answer for Faber's speed. Damn that kid is quick. Pulver has one helluva chin though for taking all of those shots and keep on coming, especially in the 2nd round. Great fight.

SO, Faber won? Couldnt seem to get a definitive answer when I hit google up for some reason...

Zach

Yep, he won. I said to my wife after 3 that Faber was winning every round, and the only way pulver would win would be to stop him. Hell of a fight. Both headline fights were great last night

I think the last MMA I actually watched was a Royce Gracie fight from UFC 2 or 3...back when Big John was the Ref, and the only rules were nothing to the eyes, and no biting. Before weight classes, and gloves and rounds.

I know a lot of the names of the Sport, but haven't paid any real atention to the fights themselves.

I watched Faber-Pulver last night, and I gotta say...it was WAY more entertaining than ANYHING I've seen in a boxing ring, since, say Tyson lost the belt to Douglas.

Growing up in Ireland, boxing was the big sport. Over here there may not have been anything that great since tyson/douglas, but we had Collins/Eubanks, Collins/Benn, Benn/Eubanks, great fights. And of course Barry McGuigan. On the olympic level we had Carruth and knacker done well Francie Barrett.

So I got into MMA over here as I wasn't really following boxing much, no real big matches worth speaking of.

I think it's a great sport, and last nights fights were a good example of why.

Both WEC title fights were pretty good. Several of the guys from the rink I work at went to the show since we live near Sacramento (Arco Arena).

MUCH better then the Kimbo Slice and other fights that were on Saturday night on CBS.

I just watched that fight and man it was a great fight. The fight before the Pulver fight was insane too. I am still a fan of UFC over WEC though.

Oh I noticed it. I was half expecting her to take off her shirt in a sly striptease as he entered the ring. I honestly thought that she was a fake. Oh well. B)
