City for a recent grad to move to

Recommended Posts

I just graduated college and I'm trying to figure out where to go next. What U.S. cities do you guys know of that are good for young people (nightlife, lots of other young people, etc.). I've heard a lot about Austin, TX and Raleigh, NC. Any opinions on these or other places? I'd like to live somewhere fairly warm, not crazy expensive, and, of course, with some rinks at which to play some beer league! :)

(Also, I'd appreciate suggestions on what neighborhoods within these cities are best for young people apartment-wise).

Thanks everybody!

I grew up and went to college in the DC area. Moved to Raleigh about 3 years ago and love it. Good downtonw seen and one of the younger cities in the country. Also a lot of big companies are down in Raleigh/RTP.

Also doesn't hurt to have NCSU, UNC, and Duke all right around here

I've spent a fair amount of time in both cities and both have a lot to offer. Austin is a huge college/party town, so if that is what you are looking for....you simply can't go wrong. Raleigh has a great downtown area, generally not as crazy/spring breakish as Austin, but still every bit as entertaining. For my $.02....I wouldn't turn down a chance to move to Raleigh. It has everything to offer being in the southeast as opposed to being in Texas where you truly get 2 seasons and are a good drive away from something different. Raleigh: hours from the beach, professional sports, and the mountains. You really can't go wrong.
