Vapor XXX-Lite to One90 Switch...Questions...

Recommended Posts

Hey guys....i'm sure this has been answered in some way shape or form on the board before....and i did a quick search on it, but couldn't find something as specific as what i mention below...

a little background....i have been playing roller since i was 9 years old and about 7 months ago chose to start playing ice hockey....I LOVE IT....so much so that i've decided to stick ONLY with ice instead of roller.....that said, all i used to use were wooden sticks...over the years, i had some aluminum shafts, but they never felt right, so i stuck with wood.....i switched over to OPS while playing ice....at first i started using a SW5, 90-flex that i felt was just WAY TOO whippy for me....so i then switched over and have been using the 102-flex Vapor line of sticks (first an VIII and now the XXX-lite)....the XXX-lite feels great in my hands...not whippy, i love my shot with it....i favor my wrist shot, but my slapper is good enough IMO, that it's worth using....

all of this said, my Vapor XXX-Lite broke on me after about 5 months of consistent use (i was VERY happy with this), and now i cannot find the stick ANYWHERE for a reasonable price, and in the P91 curve in the 102-flex (i don't wanna buy the used one's on Ebay)....

i'm now thinking of switching over to the One90....i want to stick with a 102-flex....i know that the taper is very different, and that the stick is supposed to give the shooter more power.....

my questions are these:

1) what will be the most noticeable difference, if any, in puck handling and shooting with the stick?

2) is what NBH saying to describe the stick VERY noticeably true? that the loading on the Vapor line is much quicker? or is this just a marketing ploy (like i believe it to be), and the players release is the players release?

3) not related to the stick, but what are the SPECIFIC differences between the P91 and P91a curve?

i'm not as familiar with the OPS sticks, so my knowledge about their capabilities and different specs is coming, but nowhere near as vast as some of you guys.....ANY help would be greatly appreciated....

thanks!

5 months is pretty good. I've never had the chance to use a one90 but I believe the shaft dimensions of the one90 are more traditional (boxy) while the xxx lite is more concave. Ogie is also right about the taper!

btw i'm not sure if they still have some in stock but my buddies ordered a bunch of p91 and p91a xxx lites off hockeygiant for a great price (i think $99)

One option to find the XXX-lites in P91 is to get a hold of TSR in Salem. They've been getting steady shipments of pro-stocks recently and are selling them at awesome prices.
