Turning a standard wood blade into a tapered?

Recommended Posts

So, since the selection of tapered wood blades is so small in europe, and the shipping from US is so expensive iv'e decided to try and turn a standard wood blade into a tapered dito.

It should be a eazy job, but i'm a bit unsecure about the durability. So anyone with expirience is welcome to share their toughts.

How did it turn out?

Durability?

etc

i have done it... works great! the durability usually comes from Fibreglass and Graphite inserts in the hosel, but i have found when i shave the wood down to the fibreglass and graphite it is just the right thickness to fit a taper shaft. i use a dremel, but if you have time a file will work.

ok.. nice to hear. I'm gonna pick up a few cheap wood blades next week, and start to make some experiments with different hosel lengths..

Thanks

i've done it with mixed results. take your time don't rush it. make sure your tennon lenght is right. if you have a caliper use it to check the tennon thickness.
