The movie thread

Do you guys even consider these torture porn movies horror? I sure dont I just classify them as Gore honestly. In retrospect, I should have checked out IMDB before watching. Also, just got done watching District 9 and forgot how awesome a movie it is. I really hope there is a well done sequel coming out in 2013 (3 years ;-) )

There are a lot of people that would watch snuff films if they were more widely available. Growing up watching violence on TV and in movies has desensitized people to it.

I do not consider it Horror. I think it appeals to a weird sense in people. Some people need to see it or want to see it, but once I saw real life gore I realized how unnecessary it is.

So true Chadd, and also sad. The first gore movie I watched was Dead Alive. I watched the first two SAW movies and honestly, nothing after that till Eden Lake. Just not my type of genre. I guess I was sorta hoping for some sort of revenge which is why I kept watching. (Just revenge to the right person for those who have watched it)

Totally agree with you. I must say though, it seems as if that genre is dying down quickly.

Watched Captain America the other night, not all that bad. Seemed to be a pretty good example for the genre and only a few scenes where the green screen use was painful.

Im probably one of the few who would love a Dum Dum Dugan movie with Neal McDonough.

I just watched Brick. Excellent movie that I should have seen earlier.

Brick is awesome!

If you guys like horror SPoofs, check out "Dale ad Tucker Vs. Evil". I saw it on comcast ondemand so it may not be out yet. Hilarious though.

If you do not mind accents, "Attack the Block" is pretty awesome as well.

Yes, Dale and Tucker vs Evil is awesome with an original story. I also liked Attack The Block, at first I thought it was going to be more comedy because of Edgar Wright, but it fell into the action genre more.

I really liked Tucker and Dale vs Evil. I was laughing pretty hard throughout the whole movie. My favorite movie as of late has to be Drive though. I thought it was great. It's one of the few movies that I went into without really knowing the story (I work at a movie theatre so a lot of the big details of movies gets told to me, whether I like it or not).

Coming from someone who grew up in the '80s/'90s I loved Hot Tub Time Machine (if not for just the soundtrack alone!), and recently watched Take Me Home Tonight with my wife. What a hoot. Great use of the time era, and some good laughs, and great music too of course!

I just watched a 2002 movie called "Joshua", and really enjoyed it. It shows up on cable, late night, occasionally. Tony Goldwyn played the lead, and I usually like his work, and the small movies he appears in. This movie sounded interesting enough to check out, and I was surprised how much I liked it. No zombies, vampires, action, or sex; it's mostly about people coming together, and it made me feel good.
