Opinions on the RBK 7K versus 8K

Recommended Posts

I'm in the market for some new hockey pants, and I've narrowed it down to the RBK 7K or 8K. The 9K is just a bit too much. How do these pants compare? I'm leaning towards the 7K, but how are they in terms of mobility and protection? Right now I have Easton Synergy pants, and I'm not too fond of them. They are better than my old CCMs, but not too great.

I want to make sure I have pants that don't ride up my leg, either. Something that will lay on the top of my knee, not above it. It appears that the 7K might "ride up" as opposed to the 8K, but that's just from looking at pictures online.

the 8k looks more comfortable than the 7k. one of my friends has the new 7k and the 8ks he says he likes the 8k, because its lighter* apparently* i don't really know because i really enjoy the 5k,it's really command and it's like durable

I found the 8K to be lacking in protection. Maybe its just me. I was going to buy them, but went for the tacklas instead.

I've owned both and i think they are totally similar, you feel a little more solid in the 8ks because they have stiffer protection and added features but in all, i think they are both a great pant. the 8k is the bestest.

It depends on the level of hockey your playing and what your comfortable with. It your just playing recreational the 7K should be more than enough pant for that level of play and I wouldn't spend the extra to get the 8K. I've found the 6K to be more than sufficient for even league level semi-contact and contact hockey. Reebok makes a well padded pant and the pads in the higher level pants have adjustable padding that adjusts to your personal preference. Depending on what you have to spend I also agree with one of the other posters and maybe take a look at some Tacklas, the 951 for instance which is a very nice pant.

are you talking about this year's or last year's 5k pants?

just asking because I have the one's from last year and they are extremely comfortable, but I do get really banged up in them.
