One Man Penalty Kill

Recommended Posts

This video is from a tournament in Philly this past weekend. After the score was 8-0 the purple team just used the game to practice passing. Even without trying to run up the score the final was 15-0. During one penalty kill, a kid on the purple team kept the puck from the other team for over a minute. It was hillarious.

This happens in beer league pre-season all the time when teams aren't in competitive divisions.

Purple team needs to move up a div or the other team needs to get bumped down.

I can't imagine that sort of situation benefiting anyone. We just changed the way the leagues are set up and allow players to play senior and junior here. The midget level is now fantasticlly even! Havn't seen a game lost/won by more then 2 goals so far. Its such a buzz to coach when almost every game is neck and neck! Last season teams with stacked lists were winning 14-2! We lost allot of kids from hockey because of this. We are only now getting some players back.

Yeah that was the OneHockey tournament. Actually it was a pre-tournament scrimage between Can/USA 99 vs Maine 99. Maine was out matched the whole tournament.

You cannot make any mistakes against the better teams. My sons team went from a 2 goal lead against Florida in the third to a one goal deficit all in one shift. They ended up losing by one.

Good luck in the tournament! It was a blast for both the kids and the parents.

Isn't this like mite level hockey? The kid must be going to the NHL because he can carry the puck around kids still learning how to skate. I'm sure the kids from Maine completely forgot about this game and your on here bragging about how your kids mite team beat up on them.

Hmmm, add 15 years and too many pre games beers and that was my team last game watching the other team with the puck

I'm not bragging. It's not my kid. I guess somethings are just funnier when you're there and experience them for yourself rather than watching them on You Tube.

As far as being my kid's team, all of the teams are put together for the sole purpose of playing in this one week tournament. Most of these kids will never see each other again. In the end my son's team was 6th out of 10. I'm hardly bragging. I guess the lesson here is that although something was funny because I experienced it does not necessarily mean that the humor can be shared by someone that wasn't there and emotionally involved.

Some people do the schandenfreude thing, and other people find it distastful. The other issue is youth hockey has generated a rep for absolute crap like this happening and it hurts the sport, especially in the US.

thank you very much. It seems like the tournament is very well run and should be a good experience. I'm pretty scared to get the jerseys though, im hoping we dont get the neon yellow looking ones hah.

yea midget is a tough age to get competetive hockey in my area. all of the good players play elsewhere and all of the not so good players dont give a shit. my team didnt win a single game last year and we had no more than 9 guys at a single game. it sucked so bad.
