lyle.m23 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2008 yellow laces would look sick man !i think the toe pro worked better than the spray paint, was it messy ?
ramensandwich 1 Report post Posted July 12, 2008 haven't put the toe pro on yet... thats just straight dye marker right there. waiting a few days to put it on, but the toe pro should waterproof it, make it nice and flexible, and give it a nice even topcoat. trevor13478 1 Report post Posted July 12, 2008 id put black laces on those vapors, how many markers did you burn through doing that and do you mind posting exactly what marker you used. (for those of us that may want to copy you haha). They came out very nice btw, i'm digging that look.I think i would have left the red in there just because you can't get rid of the red on the bottom of the skate and the red XXV on the heel.as for the toepro, i don't think that should be necessary if you used a dye pen and not a paint pen. but better safe than sorry, it would be a shame if those turned purple on you.nice job. ramensandwich 1 Report post Posted July 12, 2008 i used a Testors brand paint pen. I have experience with their products building scale plastic models, and have found that their pants penetrate and stain rather than forming an enamel coating. Testors paints also tend to tolerate flexing.surprisingly, i did the whole job with 1 marker.for what its worth, silver paint pen takes care of the heel lettering, and tomorrow i will be touching up the edges of the outsole. wildebeest 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2008 Here's my vapor xxxx that I did with a sharpie and a drawing marker. took about an hour for both skates and they're holding strong after about 4 hours on the ice.put them up in the show it off thread, thought I'd add them to this thread as well. Rick 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2009 I used the black Pro Toe stuff on the white tendon guard areas of my 552 Tacks after the white got real dirty looking and would no longer clean up nice and it worked great. I also used it to make repairs on my old 755 Kevlar Tacks and after a while they were green(kevlar) with a bunch of black spots so I finally painted all of the kevlar area with the black Pro Toe and they look a bunch better. IPv6Freely 2100 Report post Posted November 28, 2010 If you want to paint the blade holder, you want to use Krylon Fusion spray paint. It bonds to plastic. A good scrape will obviously take it off, but it definitely wont peel or flake off. I'm considering doing it when I buy my new RBK 8ks. Maybe.
ty_tanium 1 Report post Posted December 7, 2010 kinda bring it back from the dead, but heres my x40s that i honestly hated the look of when i bought em, but the were comfy and on sale. Now they look like what had originally wanted them to look like. Everything was done using Sharpie Paint markers.
shoeshine boy 246 Report post Posted December 7, 2010 for the guys using Sharpie Paint Markers: are you using the water-based or the oil-based?
ty_tanium 1 Report post Posted December 7, 2010 the girl at the art store told me to use the oil-based as it would cover plastic better also when ur skates get wet from playing the water wont react with the oil-based

I may have to give this a go on my Vapor XXXX's....
IPv6Freely 2100 Report post Posted December 8, 2010 You'd probably have better luck w/ Krylon Fusion as I mentioned above. It chemically bonds to plastic. You certainly will never have to worry about it becoming water damaged - in fact, many MANY people use it on the INSIDE of salt water aquariums... and for those who are into that hobby, they know what chemicals can do to a reef tank..
